  1. i`m with alex,defo cut a little longer always splits, but if you take on board both alex and james thoughts you`ll be fine, Ive found (as a woodmizer owner) that for regular dimension sizes ie 6x2 8x2,etc the lucas is excellent,,,and fast,,,

  13. james Im sure your going to get lots of different answers here but my two pennies worth is, cedar needs as long as you can give it,otherwise it tends to split a bit on knots etc, the benches I made for the pub ,had timber from 9mths old milling, and have had too go back a few times( what a bind lol) to sand out a few bits and pieces, the benches I made up last summer had timber which had been dried for two yrs,and have had no problems, As with oak I leave it for a yr per inch,and for outside furniture this seems fine, Ive also taken on board Big J`s coments and dont mill boards in the summer,just beams, unless I have to with the alaskan on a tree job in the back garden! I am in the furtunate position of having enough timber to keep a rolling stock ,so waiting isnt a problem,presuming I last that long,lol.....
  14. well off we go six lads,a yurt,green wood cover,polelathe, two kegs of cider,wellies, and a porta loo,,,loads of carving knives and some lovely fresh cherry, let the crafts begin,,,good bye tree work for a week,,,,,yippeee,,,,,

Ive made loads of stuff from it in the past and there still going strong, giving the right finnish helps, seen some massive stuff made from it at glasto, by a guy,and hes been going for the last ten yrs as I have and his king arthur table and chairs are incredible,, I`m making a funky wendy house for my grandaughter,,will post when done,,,,
  19. got this sequioa in from bob at wolverhampton tree services, , got nick to haul it over, (as had been kindly offered some from dan on here, but getting it from norfolk killed it, )so 27.5 tons of lovely straight timber, I plan on using it too make everything from benches,to birdboxes,,mushrooms,wendy houses etc,,,
