Had a grand day today nothing to back bracking deadwooding a few oaks then down the woods to clear next to a river so was given lots of oppertunities to climb. Done my first pole climbs aswell as I just said on another thread was crapping it massively. Nothing to exciting just full of young cop ho and want to tell everyone about my climbing etc im sure you all remeber that day.

What a coincerdence I done a few pole climbs today for the first time. Did the college have a saftey line installed while you were learning? I was pooing it big time on the first realy long leggy alder. The key I found was to keep your mind off the fact your not 100% securley straped in. I was told to use the triangle method to which im sure your famililar with I found it a strugle to understand and get used to it on the first but on the second it made more sense and like evrything in this industry you will get it with experience etc. I was also told to keep my feet wide rather than close together just purely for balance. Get a good angle on the tree not to close as I found out and nearly had a slip lean back you will also feel much more comfortable. Wacth the anlge with the spikes to dont try to go in straight down as alot fo the time you will miss the tree and slip, I think you should normally be able to get a good angle with spikes when you are leaning back to. Like I said I'm no expert im sure the other lads on here will give you much better advice just thought I would add as I done my first bit today. good luck.

Heard a story similar to these the climber luckily saw his rope going through and the slack started to be taken off had his pocket knive with him quickly straped in with lanyard and had to cut a rope and then had to be rescued. Aparantley climber let rip on the groundie and kciked him phisicaly off site. Ive never actually met some who would be stupid enough to do that without being to modest Im always wacthing for things like that always eyes on climber and thinking about what I'm doing and if I was climbing I know I could trust the groundies I work with.

Brilliant photos there. My boss has a working horse and works closely with the working horse trust and we do charity days for them cutting alot of woodland etc.

Whatever you do dont burn it in the ground, Im sure you know but incaase not it reacts to heat I think. I think digging may be your only option.

Tis a wonderful looking saw fired her up to and just felt/sounded and in everyway possible better than an 088. Should be able to get a pic tommorow ill post her up.

Was talking about these today I bought a pair of type Cs of a mate as was realy skint etc and he hated them he is a big set bloke very well built and he just said they didnt fit his legs and got realy tight. they fit me fine so depends what build you are and what you like. try some on at a show or something this summer.
