  1. One thing I seriously think needs addressing in my rise up the arb ladder is my tree id and my fungi id. Ive got a collins book of british trees I know the real basics of trees . How do I remeber all of them is there a teqnique that Im missing or shall I just read through until it sticks, how did you guys get remebering or is it just experience? Also fungi ID I know vertually none but something I want to know some basics of whats the best book for that and the same question how to learn and remeber. Hope its not such a stupid question but I just see at as such a daunting thing to learn.
  2. Yes there suppose to be a very good employer look after the staff in many ways. unfortuantley to far for me to move to
  3. Heard about this on the grapevine today suppose to be a great and experience cutter. awful news

  7. ahh well done my man. We all told you so... Good luck
  8. :thumbup1:Brilliant post IMO Wish it was like this though. I posted a similar comment a few weeks back its regardless of skill and who works harder at the end of the day your there to earn monney for yourself and your employer (if you have one) some 'climbers' who rarely climb anymore still get 120 a day and when they are on the ground they do nothing but tell everyone what to do and how we are doing such a bad job??? Imagine that great climber coming down after a hard climb knowing that he has to clean everything up. It shouldnt matter about groundie vs climber it is ike Andy said a team.
  9. That wimbledon based company looks a cracking opportunity for some hes looking for groundies aswell. Since coming on here Ive found that I am realy realy lucky to have a job Ive had to work for it dont get me wrong and was doing W/E for aboout a year before geting looking into apprenterships but without my boss now Im sure I would be in a similar position for you. sorry I cant help mate but your doing the right thing by sticking in there. chin up:001_smile:
  10. HAHA I am actualy selling and im not leing about it going anywere in the snow.
  11. glad your not starting out now then sir! Dont mean it offencivly or anything. From the little I have heard of what people pay groundies on here I think wow thats a great wage. Some people would love any job earning 12k minimum wage. Like I said not saying it funnily but thats a very good wage for a groundie:001_smile:
  12. Got a fiat cinqutento for sale 1 litre and it never got stuck int snow, Im sure itll be fine off road:lol:
  13. happy birthday hope you had a good day.
  14. Was wondering the same all day yesterday almost literally st patricks is more celebrated in this country than st georges day. Most people I spoke to about it yesterday said I wouldnt of none unless for you and might of herad it on radio etc.
  15. Yeah ok after reading my original post maybe it was very presumptious of me to say that and if I'm wrong I'll apologise but I guess we are never going to find out.
  16. Gutted I missed it monney was realy tight this month due to my own fault realy bu definatley going to saveup plent of pennies for next year
  17. But the arguement on here is tha he is not an AA contractor just a phoney and his work was of poor quality etc and the price was to high or not to high as ohers have said.
  18. Are you being serious did you see the programe? the bloke proberly didnt pay insurance the machinery is probery nicked and his yard is proberly were his house is. Ok im being very presumptus there but ill ask the question again did you see the bloke who everyone is on about?
  19. We have got a lock on the hicth and one of th bulldog things I think. The only thing is they look like anyone can smash them off.
  20. Thanks for your advice know its wrong thread and all that but will be good for mike to sounds like we are at similar positions in regards to climbing and training.:thumbup1:
  21. I did think it was a wee bit odd but I had pictures to post and thing to tell and mike was asking for advice to difernt things
  22. Same here to be honest we need a brushcutter that day so left the orignal guard on. Lamberhurst enginering doubt you would of heard of em down your way.
  23. I'm no expert but no a bit, split logs get air into easier so will season quicker but if you want to give customer satisfaction still season for at least a year with most hard woods and at least 18-24 months with soft (Im sure someone might disagree its just what Ive been told.) When you get a customer base youll start learning what most customers want in regardence to size etc most will want 9inch so less some more but thats about average. Some customers have monster burners which will take huge stuff we have one that once 3ft cut logs we ended up cleaving most of it. Im sure there is more experienced people out there this is just my experience. good luck
  24. This I know your only enquiring but what would you do if something went wrong that you have never experienced before at least with two years plus experience you would of most proberly dealth with it. plus how are you going to know about pricing etc? definatley get experience in being employed or self employed through firms.
  25. Same here we discused this at work during the week, I dont actulaly know the story nor do I want to my imagination is bad enough:sneaky2: the 3 angled head thingy is fine and does a safer job. When we got ours this week they stocked the head then informed us that we need a new guard. Ok we replied well have one of them to. sorry we dont acully stock them but we can order one for next week. crazy:thumbdown:
