  1. not realy a tight arse for doing that mate:sneaky2: You gota save monney in times and if this will save him 50 quid a month or whatever the figueres are every little helps. Its when you dont buy new files for 50p etc that makes you a tight arse IMO
  2. Think the limit is irrelevant in your case anyway as long as its road legal its fine I think. IM doing my theorey at the moment and all ive seen so far in the highway code about this is if you drive a slow vehicle then chekc your mirros and pull over every now and then.
  3. 40 quid I think a flip line is when youve waited and paid alot of money for someone to send it privatley you might aswell get your self a brand new one
  4. DOH! very good grades for a levels anyway. Sorry I cant realy help any more but good luck with it all:thumbup1:
  5. Its funny Ive always been told to look at it like: 'A plumber can buy some tools 500-1000? and a van (escort 250-500) and if there qualified thats it they can go to work. An tree surgeon- A groundsaw a good one being 350-500 + top handle 500 blower, climbing kit, tippper truck, chipper. thats minimum. THEN if your sticking directley by the book yo have loler certs to pay for, insurance, refreshers, if you employ training courses. When you look at it like that I can see why you self employed lot find it hard and I do feel lucky as an employee:thumbup1:
  6. Oh well maybe the apprentership might not be for you well saying that you need to start somewhere mate with all respect we caant do what we want we gota work for it. Like I said I dont mean that nastily. What does AAAB stand for?
  7. I have two questions to ask and thoght I would wait for a loler thread to come up. If your kit has been used minimal amount of times as in once or twice in 6months still lolerd right? If you dont loler your climing kit for say 12 months and then think 'bother I beta loler it' Will it instantley fail because you have left it or if its in top condition its ok? To be honest im neither of these but in 4 months time I may be the first question ie my kit may have minimal use. thanks
  8. Im sure I posted on this thread but hey maybe not. Im doing an apprentership with a small firm and go to college once a fortnight. The college work is easy realy just geting lots of pictures etc. Working full time pretty much shows you that its not all climbing massive oaks or in the woods all day you have to start at the bottom dragging other peoples mess etc but if you get past that you show determination , willing etc then you should be liked and looked after by your employer. To be honest I would recomend apprenterships you may have to start of with free work experience to get your foot in the door once again if you show your willing to do this then you should be looked after. This should in most cases mean that after your apprentership and when your qualified youve got a full time job where as the ten week course your a qualified arborist but with no job unless you find one straight away. sorry abuot the long post just my bit of advice:thumbup1:
  9. The Body Language of Trees Book pricey but there you go think its the right one
  10. felled some great alder over a river today should of took some piccies for you all.
  11. Bit odd are they dangerous to the properties?
  12. I dont no why I love alder the colour of it is amazing and when felling it there is hardley any top to burn. although its very heavy to handball it around.
  13. Yeah thanks from me to was a good day learnt a hell of a lot about climbing.
  14. Apart from the saw head and hedg trimer head I cant tell you much more than that but they are very good. Stihl do a long arm hedge cutter with a handle half way up the pole. Its not very long 4 meters max but its great if you do alot of hedge cutting work its not as heavy as the ht75? (the telescopic pole saw) so its great for not very high hedges if not just buy yourself a ht75 with both head actachment.
  15. Why is this set on the same weekend as the capel manor show? seems a bit odd to have it on same weekend.
  16. I am presumming this im sure AA tecie or someone can back this up but I do agree with but its simplely keeping people in work thats is my theoroy on some health and saftey ideas.( I DID SAY SOME NOT ALL)
  17. Think it might be a legal requirement there teaching it in cs30 as a saftey feature so Im presuming it is.
  18. Ive got a flip line an 4 krabs and some prusicks that I still need to cut is that efficient?
  19. :blushing:Right im sure this is going to sound a complete amtuear question which it is. but with a flip line how can you one up the ones ive seen have a funny looking krab on it the name I cant remeber and a prusick sort of thing. so I havent got the funny crabs etc but can you set a flip line up wihtout it with just a normal crab sorry for stupid question but its something ive never been told or asked before.
  20. Your going the right way about it by asking for free WE thats how I got in although I was still at school. If or when you do get in with a tree gang andthy offer you work look into an apprentership scheme at your local arb college. Im doing one now and its worth it if your worried about pric to it tkes the edge off that I think when your over 19 its 600-700 and you get cs30/31/38/39 and few more and you get a emergencey first aid. This is my apprenteship and my college so it may be differennt were you are. good luck with it all youve piicked the best industry
  21. ahh thats grand thanks alot and ill see you tommorow morning.
