  1. Well done mate. just doing my training for 30/31. Much much more confident on my felling than maintance/cross cutting. glad youve passed.
  2. The par of the road they are planning to do is a nightmare and as someone said it needs doing its awful. Having heard about a pipeline workliterally just down road from there and all the hassle the newts and stuff causd it wouldnt supried me if plans changed and the woodland is saved. One thing someone once said that for every tree you fell/dismantle whatever you replan three and most of the time the figures work out. An Arbtalk protest meet would be more intresting than a climbing met surely.
  3. Nice on have always thought its a great idea to have genuine people writting about what they thought of your work.
  4. If you dont get em into at that sort of age then they may drink the lager.
  5. Plenty of people have had log arbhistory without cuts and others havent doesnt make you more man because youve made a mistake witha saw or more of an arborist either. Most if not all accidents happen because of operator error, 020 in your hand = should have used saw in 2 hands, kckback= dont use nose its simple realy. I feel sorry for anyone were there error isnt because of there skills or whatever. I have some respect for you scott for posting and admiting your mistake.
  6. Is it me or does the 3rd picture down the 015 look almost the same as the Echo top handle?
  7. If its half as good as last years macth itll be a gooden, Think I might do the same now youve given me idea.
  8. £81 I would say go for it its an extra recognised award Just hope for you and your arms sake you dont get a full time job at it. I have heard it happen before
  9. got 6 risks on my generic risk assement how much more can you put on without putting almost everything We do? Thank for any help.
  10. I am famous iin our firm for having crisp sannies Also tortia wraps, mums homemade sasauge rolls are also quite famous. For some reason we never seem to have fry ups over the fire something we need to start.
  11. MIght be a to obvious Answer but sure the new owner of the house could get the monney back from the tree work you have taken out plus whatever court/solcitor fees apply. Like I said im not sure but just what I would imagine.
  12. I think one of the blokes who works in our firm has got one to be fair hes geting on a bit and I dont mean that disrespuctufuly to anyone here or him think it takes out most of the arm work and to be honest seems lot slower IMO.
  13. My favourite quote in life to do with work anyway is ' I only work to live I dont live to work'. Saying that this website is awfully addictive!
  14. abserlutley amazing email thank you. My best bit 'Whilst I realise that there may be far more serious crimes taking place in Bodmin, such as smoking in a public place or being Muslim without due care and attention'
  15. Nout wrong with that If a newbie cant except a poor starting wage (which compared to mine is great) then maybe you should think twice about giving him work. And if an experienced thinks he can get more than that find someone to replace him.
  16. Im on 25 a day as I would say an experienced groundie 2 years ish? but without tickets (booked for next week) make of this what you will.
  17. Im very young in comparision but Ive said that if I won the lottery I would still work just know that when I have experience and go on my own I can set up a top knocth bussiness with regards to kit anyhow. I want to be abroad in my 50s/60s but that is way way way to far ahead to plan
  18. I dont think my contract states anything about him buying my PPE etc so does that mean its up to me to provide it or is it just so mandatory to do so anyway? sorry didnt make that to clear to start with
  19. Blimey maybe I should stop now So if my cotract doesnt state PPE does that mean its off his back?
  20. I do understand most of that. Do You mind if I ask if you are an employee or a subbie? And if you are a subbie with your own bussiness as in have blokes in on a regular basis? Maybe if you put your self in the shoes of his empoyer you may ee it differently? Once again just to remind you that I do an employer should buy there employes kit im merely just trying to look at it from an emploerrs point of view.
  21. Best thing you've said all thread:001_tt2:lol. I do think you have got a valid point about the DB9 I think as someone said above see if you cant do some deal you dont pay him back for the corse and you buy your kit its not ideal but I do think you dont have any rights as a 'subbie'
  22. But he isnt realy is he? He said that is the reason for by his own, if the boss made him go up there then its a different matter.
  23. Are you sure? Maybe I'm wrong but I thought subbies have to provide there own stuff and the firm they mainly work for has no legal obligation to pay anything. I thought in effect being a subby is having your own bussiness therefore why should another bussiness help you out they have no oblegation to.
  24. I asked him straight up is there anyway he can make a contribution to my climbing kit and I said you know im on a low wage plus im learning to drive I may struggle geting it. to which he said you can use my discount and ill get you the VAT back. In reply to Andy CLARK what would taking him to a tribunal do? Give me some monney? Give me a load of agro? And then be out on my ear because Im labbeled as a trouble maker.
  25. Im in a similar position myself were ive bought my own kit I got offered his and just said no it wouldnt pass a loler inspection. But what is heor me suppossed to do if we tell him that its the law and he has to then its going to cause friction between you and him and anyone can take over one of our spaces as trainees. Dont get me wrong I completley agree with you but im in a small firm and work is none to easy to find right now especially for trainees.
