  1. Ive recently just bought my own climbing kit from F R Jones who postes on here I cant speak more highly of the service and price in comparision to my local dealer. Im emplyoed but doing an apprentership scheme so monney need to be exchanged for the course and the college said he should provided your kit but in the real world its not that simple or a small firm to do this. I bought half my climbing kit this month and next month geting the rest and I followed the advice on here to not be tight with monney so that what I have done. good luck
  2. Just to add my not very experienced bit- Ive been on jobs as a groundie with no 38 and looking back on it now its a horrible thought to think that if something happend and he couldnt get down and that would then be on my concionce. I will add that this has been a rare occurance but still. Also the simplist of things said above- my phone is all creditd as on contract but signal no one knows like said until lunch, knwing 100% you have a sufficently full first aid kit, not knowing your property and even sometimes ive been a job and not known what village we are in. After reading this thread its shed so much light on the fact not to have an unqualified arieal rescuer or first aider. I know a could get shot down from this post but thought I would be honest.
  3. I have to disagree with you dodger I do not think that immigrants will take over arb jobs maybe these certain companies area going through hard times and trying something to keep costs down. The small amount of eastern europeans ive worked with have basically just cleaned up after us on a massive headge cutting job and they work hard, I think they will just be laborers. Some traverlers/gypsys do cheap labor in tree surgery and they have certainly made an impact but most decent firms would think twice about employing one and I think the same will happen with immigrants.
  4. I think that any major tree firm allowing any unqualified person to cut a tree down are fools be it an english or whatever. In the UK there arnt realy many forgien tree surgeons with the exxception of scandanavia/NZ/AUS etc so my view is if they are going to empoy someone to cut a tree badly then go ahead because they wont be gong far with a bad reputaiton.
  5. Was talking about this to someone the other do but does minimum days apply to immigrants or is there a seperate?
  6. point taken didnt look at it that way, but what if a firm of english nationals set up down the road and got paid minimum wage and undercut eveery job you quote on? Not that this is a race issue:thumbup1:
  7. one bloke at work has got I phooone another has a blackberry an the Iphone bloke hates his phone. I have a very poor samsung 40 quid jobby and take a digital cammera into work for college portfolio. I would say nokia all the way they have allways seem to with stand beatings IMO
  8. Like someone said above no one is making him be there he is lucky he has found work and like I said he wont be geting half of that monney at home
  9. Im on 125 quid a week as an apprentice have no tickets tree surgery firms can pay poor monney. And do you cant pay someone unqulified the same as someone qualified plus a east european cant complain nconsidering he was geting half if not less back home
  10. That but repacing the wee with small
  11. conrats on the 30 and sorry to hear about the 31. I never new that 2 lads I no just passed both of there 30/31 and tey didnt have type cs unless the instructor lent it them althogh this was private not college like me. Looks like ill have to ask the olders to borrow a pair.
  12. Following on from a thread from early just re-reading the letter and it says I need all roudn protection. I always thought all round protection was for cs39 and onwards? Can anyone explain this to me?
  13. haha I thought exactley the same. As said above the sawdus does collect in front pocket and makes an awful mess by the washing machine or in it. But personally I think they alot of better than jumpers.
  14. very good point
  15. hello. I would love to it privatley our firm is good friends with a instructor who we give and get work from/to and hes a realy good guy. but the only reason I choose to do the apprentership scheme is because it was free I realy have no means of affording privatley. Im hoping that passing cs30/31 will increase my wage ( my boss promised this) and if plumptoin dont pull there finger out there ass then do 38/39 privatley so will keep anote of his name for future reference cheers.
  16. Im over the moon not onl is it friday but Plumpton college have finally decided to pull there finger out and put me through my tickets. They have messed me about so much at one point after promising me my chipper ticket/30/31/32/38/39/PA1PA6/brushcutter and more they said'oh we are only going to give you your chiper ticket thats its !' So after much agro my CS30/31 is booked for first week in march. My carreer begins now. Ive had muchadvice from the blokes at work but any more is gratley apreciative.
  17. To be honest as the boss of the job its irrelevan if its saturday or sunay if you want more monney as an employer just for doing a saturday then its up to you not to do it then if you no what I mean. Yes you should charge extra but the day of the week has nothing to do with it IMO.
  18. It makes me laugh when my boss walks around callin himself the maniging director it sounds so posh and upmarket which just isnt him
  19. can we use big shots?
  20. did exactley the same minus the restaunt with the missus. Great game ay.
  21. The way were told to look at it is that although alot of the time you wont make alot of monney from logs its a good bit of free advertising. As said above I wouldt sell by wieght measure the ubic meters of your form of delievry it make you look more genuine and no one can bite you in the bckside
