  1. christ thats even further!!! nice little trip out though, broke the day up a bit i bet!
  2. presuming Frankie is Newmarket based, thats a fair old haul for you Egg?!
  3. do all you guys use Roundup or a cheaper version? We use 1000's of litres of Glyphosate each year, never ever use Roundup as the cheaper stuff is just as good and nowhere near as expensive. A little tip, we always put liquid AS (Amoniam Sulphate) in the Glyphosate mix. It conditions the water and alllows the Glyphosate to work better.
  4. Im ten minutes from Bury, will send you a pm shortly. although i cant promise cheap lengths of timber as i will definately be running short this winter if the orders this week are anthing to come by
  5. As title suggests really, took order today from a chap who had his laptop in front of him and was going round all the firewood guys with websites then he said he stumbled across the directory. He's ordered a big load and will want another before christmas thats paid for the advert also had second order from my facebook firewood page this week, took 5mins to create and seems to be worth doing
  6. hullsmill, i've got same truck as you i believe, what do you make the dimensions??? thanks ben
  7. i think thats the most beautiful thing i have ever seen
  8. or just throw / place, straight into pick up which is right next to saw bench?
  9. be easier to just roll a 1t trunk section onto someones drive
  10. its less handling then cutting 3 logs and then splitting each one though....
  11. Anyone willing to share there firewood tricks and tips, just the little things you do to make the job that little bit easier and more efficient? Got a feeling we could all learn something here I liked the one a few weeks back about putting a tyre around your splitting log I live opposite a pub, most weekends its rammed so i make sure the truck is outside the house with a full load on. also if im going into town for a few hours, will try to have a load on then also. surprising the amount of calls i've had from people seeing the truck and taking number down. Some one told me to spread the saw dust heaps around the yard, really helps to keep ya feet that little bit warmer. Basic stuff i no but be good to see what others contribute
  12. i wasnt really suggesting to keep it a year to then sell for more, was getting at keeping it and looking at doing himself.
  13. trust me, the tractor is off, both park brakes on etc. having a dog in a fork truck is awful practice
  14. i think you'd be mad to sell it, keep for a year if in no rush to shift it and this time next year if you still want to sell you can stick another £10 a ton on the asking price
  15. Cuz the dogs the boss!
  16. my own land i only took on sept last year, has been very poorly farmed and little imputs over the years. we didnt realise how bad until harvest really, 4t ac of limeX will help sort the acidity out and a real good subsoiling will improve drainage and structure no end. and its sandy loam so suffered in the draught contract land is completely different, heavy clay, very well looked after, mucked each year etc etc proper rotation
  17. We finished harvest 2 weeks ago now, my own yields were horredous, 1.7t ac average of wheat The 1300 acres i contract farm on has yielded not bad, osr 2.4t ac, winter barley 3.4t ac and what approx 3.5t ac. Hows everone else getting on?
  18. couple more piccys,
  19. Loving this Andy, amazing how a little cooking outdoors keeps everyone happy and smiling
  20. do you mind me asking if you built your firewood business up from scratch nick or have took it on from father etc? suits farming very well doesnt it, will be my 4th year now and as a business its growing very quickly, and its making use of my tractor and other equipment that would otherwise not be doing much winter time
  21. have you any pictures of your machine in work? i know egg is fitting his to a cabstar, are there any of these swing lifts suitable for pick ups?
  22. Stay off them energy drinks mate, seriously they are no good for you. I work as many if not more hrs right now and if you eat well and stay hydrated (loads of water) you dont need that ****. if your only corn carting your not starting till lunch time anyway
  23. 6 miles free and then, 6 - 10 miles extra £10 and £20 extra over 10miles
  24. spraying conditions are the most important factor, if it was cloudy and chilly day then results can take ages. i always tend to spray our yards and paddocks in real hot conditions.

    flyers

i've just had 1000 glossary postcards made up for my agricultural business and very happy with them and unlike flyers, i can address them personnally and write a note on the back if needed. was only £84 from printing.com going to get firewood ones made up this week too.
