1. I had a td5 ex utility that lasted over 200000 miles hard work and now have a tdci that was eon/western power. Pulls much better than td5 and quiet(ish). I think its a useful set up for the type of work we do but sometimes wish I had a double cab for extra person. The only issues I think they have over other landrover is the racking/rollershutters etc can get a bit rattly/squeaky! Is that one from ex-mod. I got mine from them and a mate got a tipper. Seem really helpful with good warranty etc
2. Ideal thanks. Meeting with client in the morning.
3. Evening Looking at options for shifting some timber. Site is a bit tight for a full blown timber lorry but something smaller/rigid should fit in. Does anyone have a contacts please. Prob about a 30mile trip door to door and about 80t Cheers
4. I have some but I'm in Oxfordshire Cheers Kav
5. Sorry for hijack-does anyone know how i can insure my lad on my 08' landrover 110. He 19 with 3 points!! Most companies don't want to know or want stupid monies. Aviva are happy to insure him on our cheap combo van but want nearly 3 grand to get him on landy if i went with them!! Be really handy if I could get him driving 110 and want him to learn to tow!

Small forwarding trailer, compact tractor/quad

Hi just seen your post. We have a 'alpine' tractor and timber trailer for hire with operator but are in oxfordshire so prob a bit far unless its a big job!! Might be worth calling Kilworth Machinery about hire, i think they have tractor and/or trailer hire

Load of elm

Would anyone be interested in a lorry load of elm 100-300mm. Haven't felled it yet just looking at options other than chucking it through a big chipper. Cheers
13. If you get really stuck I come past Swansea quite a lot and could bring a load down
14. That said it is quite satisfying knocking it over after christmas:001_smile:
15. Yeah should have checked that before I posted it Every year I swear I won't do tree and every year I seem to end up doing it- trying to pursued them to plant something for all year found
16. Yesterdays job putting up village christmas tree
17. Yeah if we are on tree job 38/39 all the way but if we are in the woods not always. Can you recommend a study(ish) telescopic ladder? I have seen one but it looked a bit cheap and nasty. My mate was looking for one to keep in truck for greasing timber crane. Cheers
18. Yeah you are right bit trickier on some of the poles with no lower branches/or bushy connys, i'd better start practicing. To be honest most of the time we just rig at head height too, just now and then its nicer to go a bit higher. Thanks for the replies Kav
19. Having a chat a work the other day. Would we need to have full cs38 to spike up trees to put winch cable in? Went on HSE safety day and was shown to use ladder, ratchet strap to tree, put on climbing harness and helmet, take up cable and strop to tree. Seems a lot easier when we have had climber in spikes rather than lugging ladder etc around the woods Cheers

Winchin'

Cheers chaps Winch is 3.5t and copes fine on what we had as long as stumps are nice n low etc. Brush cutter-yeah i know what you mean, vid doesn't show it but we mainly stacked small stuff so easier for tractor. Might look at getting self releasing pulley block so we can turn full length poles 90degrees when they get to top.

Winchin'

Yeah the little winch tractor is great. Dosent take up to much space on site and quick to move if we have a hanger
