  1. Yeah you are right bit trickier on some of the poles with no lower branches/or bushy connys, i'd better start practicing. To be honest most of the time we just rig at head height too, just now and then its nicer to go a bit higher. Thanks for the replies Kav
  2. Having a chat a work the other day. Would we need to have full cs38 to spike up trees to put winch cable in? Went on HSE safety day and was shown to use ladder, ratchet strap to tree, put on climbing harness and helmet, take up cable and strop to tree. Seems a lot easier when we have had climber in spikes rather than lugging ladder etc around the woods Cheers

Cheers chaps Winch is 3.5t and copes fine on what we had as long as stumps are nice n low etc. Brush cutter-yeah i know what you mean, vid doesn't show it but we mainly stacked small stuff so easier for tractor. Might look at getting self releasing pulley block so we can turn full length poles 90degrees when they get to top.

  21. Evenin' Had a go a making a bench for a friend. Western red we felled and milled a couple of weeks ago. I know its not ideal time of year for milling etc but short deadline. Is it likely to split too much? I remember reading somewhere WRC isn't too bad and I built a fence out of some years ago and it's still looks ok (I think). Cheers
