  1. Hi Jon, the 2 led light bars arrived this morning. They look good quality for the money but I'll have to wait to see what the light power is like when it gets dark. I was a little disappointed that they can't be wired up so the flood and spot lights can be used independently. They only have 2 wires so it's all lights on together. There was a slip of paper in with them saying in future, go to http://www.voilamart.com and use the voucher code VOILAMART8OFF to save 8%. I just tried it and for some reason it's all in Australian dollars but it's still free shipping to the UK. I tried it for a 42" light bar and the total was $112au which is £52! Great savings over eBay!
  2. I've just ordered 2 12" voilamart led light bars to go on the roof of the landy. They are combo units so have both spot and flood light built in. I'll let you know what they're like when they arrive. http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=391223313563&alt=web
  3. I'm onto my 3rd one and I love them! Had them from new and I've found them to be very reliable. First one did 180,000 miles and apart from servicing, had 1 clutch and a prop shaft uj. 2nd was a king cab and sold it with 120,000. Only problem was a leaking rear axle seal which leaked into the rear drum. Got a 14 plate now and it's done 17,000 so far with no problems. One thing to check is if there's a click/clunk from the rear end when pulling away after taking the handbrake off. My king cab did this when the seal was gone which caused the rear shoes to temporarily stick on after releasing the handbrake. The fix is either a new half shaft, or there's a company which repair the worn shafts with a sleeve.
  4. Where is the solonoid? Is it inside the pendant? This is the one I have Electric hoist crane 12v 360deg swing 800Kg max lift truck lorry / trailer mount | eBay It doesn't look like there's a solenoid fitted on that setup but your wireless receiver won't have anywhere near the amps required to run the winch motor. You'll need to get a solenoid similar to the one in the link below and use the yellow and white wires to operate it. http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=261808163979&alt=web
  5. I assume you've wired the yellow and white wheres into the solenoid not directly to the motor?
  6. Just a private sale off a drains company. They were the second owner after the utility company. I have been watching the sales results at brightwells over the past month and the prices people are paying for defenders at auction is crazy! There was a 2006 td5 130 chassis cab (nothing on the back) 'non-runner' and it fetched £7200 +vat + 7.5% fees! That's £9288! Crazy!
  7. Drove it home 150 miles with no major problems. Got a steering wheel wobble at 50mph and warped brake discs but it's all going to have a once over anyway. I'll start a new thread when the body chopping starts and the truck cab goes on.
  8. I pick one up tomorrow... I've thought 'outside the box'! Bought a 2006 td5 110 HD (3500kgs) ex-utility with the right wheels and tyres on it, HD suspension, winch, heated seats, heated front screen, etc, etc. But.... it's a van! Picked up a truck cab roof off a brand new truck yesterday so with a bit of chopping, I should have a nice chassis cab ready for a custom tipper body to go on the back. I'll post some pics tomorrow.
  9. This company were at the confor woodland show earlier this month with a big "self drive" sign on their stand. http://www.skidsteerhire.mobi/pages.php?id=2579
  10. £10k Inc vat for the right one. Ideally I'd like a low sided tipper with greedy boards which is why I'm thinking to get a hicap or ex-utility chassis cab and get the back added. Been looking for weeks now but nothing tidy has come up at the right price.
  11. Anyone looking to sell their land rover tipper 110 or 130? Must be in good condition. Might consider a nice hicap or chassis cab to convert myself.
  12. I've kiln dried in vented bags alongside Ibc's and the ibc product was better. The bags held up no problem though. I also kiln dried kindling in nets and expected the nets to be ruined but they held up fine too. Thats with the kiln running at 80°C.
  13. Just my left wrist and I wear it 24/7. A new bracelet seems to make your wrist go green for a while, but it soon stops. On a real hot day when your sweating cobs, the sweat must react with the copper and it goes green again but it washes off easily enough.
  14. Get a copper and magnet bracelet and give it a try. I wasn't convinced when an old boy told me to get one as my hands were always freezing and felt seized up in the cold. So much so that it was agonising pain. I've been wearing one for the last 7 years and I never think about cold hands now and I never need to wear gloves, even on the coldest winter days! I've told a few people about them over the years and I know 3 boys who now swear by them. God knows how it works... But it does! For £10-15 it's worth a punt
  15. No, the wax oil soaks into the wood and once dry, just feels like sanded wood. Varnish would be far slippier I would imagine. Here's a pic of how my floor looks. Its oak parquet.
  16. We've just used Fiddes Hard Wax Oil. Its in Matt finish and is so easy to apply. Wipe it on with a cloth, then wipe off the excess. Leave it an hour, then re-apply. Its meant to be very hard wearing too. I use it on everything now... Shelves, doors, mantle etc. Luckily I found a guy who charges £200 a day to sand the floors and gets a decent size room done in a day. He supplies everything but the finish product!
  17. That's with the rotator too. Specs say a max opening of 750mm and the pic below shows x2 10/11" logs in the grab. Marshalls or jonathan Latham are the agents for vahva jussi.
  18. A Vahva jussi grab and rotator would be well suited to a 1.5t machine and are only £560+vat! Bargain! I like the grab setup on this takeuchi. Very clever for extra reach and lift height.
  19. What about a vahva jussi trailer? They are proven and have many add-on options which can be retro fitted. I fancy the 4wd kit to make it unstoppable! You're welcome to come and have a go with mine if your near south Wales.
  20. Load of rubbish! My wife has a Navara double cab and both kids seats fit fine in the back. The babies rear facing seat on an isofix base fits behind the drivers seat fine with me driving and I'm 6'5"!
  21. I've got a navara d40 king cab and I couldn't get a maxicosi rear facing baby seat in the back. My 2 year old daughter's maxicosi tobi forward facing seat fits in with the front seat right forward and she's happy enough for occasional use. Is there a passenger airbag on the rangers? Could you fit the rear facing seat in the front passenger seat?
  22. You could try a peer-to-peer loan company such as http://www.ratesetter.com or http://www.zopa.com etc. They have been all over the press lately with their good value loans. You can also repay lumps off the loan amount at any time without a penalty.
  23. My posch 18t vertical splitter could be hired if you've got a tractor to run it?
  24. Thanks for the pics! The load definitely looks awkward on the trailer. 2 bays of 2.4's looked alot more comfortable. Thanks for the help.
