  1. I do think the newer 660 seems less solid, but if they've not changed maybe its just me:confused: spent a lot of time on an 066 and 660's they do seem different
  2. 066 would trash the lot of them but given your choices I'd go for the 395. The new 660 seems underpowered and cheap to me. Heated handles are good if you can get them on the model you go for, helps with long term effects of vibration
  3. Got a 260 that needs a new piston if you want a fixer? Bit strange they don't supply saws, I know there are companies that don't though. You on paye or self employed basis?
  4. That's not the one we climbed is it?
  5. No, its just what I've been thinking about. To create a footloop, tie your prussik, I'd use a Klemheist as it'll bind less, clip your lanyard to it, clip that to your foot as you were. Then attach your hh to your chest somehow, sling, inner tube, clipped direct to your shirt etc. I use a 120 cm tape sling with a snap on, twisted up at the back to shorten it to as tight as I can cope with, leave it on for the whole climb. Pantin on the other foot and away you go. Ergonomically you should be using opposing muscle groups ie. right hand with left leg, left hand with right leg. So lift your right hand and left leg, stand on the Pantin, lift your left hand and raise the prussik, stand in the footloop and repeat. Does that make sense mate? I might need a bit of rope weight to get it flowing properly, I've been threading a 16oz throw bag onto my tail then tying a spike underneath to keep it about 1m off the floor, when you're up in the canopy, just get your groundy to to tug your tail and the bag will come off
  6. Have you tried swapping the lanyard to the bottom of the prussik, then clipping the top of your hh to a chest loop/inner tube/the front of your shirt? That way you could make progress with both feet, and only use your arms for balance? Same gear, different setup.
  7. What about in a frog walker system? Both legs and arms work there for ascent. Progress is captured automatically by whatever system you have, be it a croll, rw uni etc
  8. Can't get good enough signal just now, will do when I get somewhere good. So you're standing on the hitch hiker, essentially capturing progress rather than making it with your right foot?
  9. Two separate static lines I might add:thumbup:
  10. Great idea. Don't suppose you've got an 090 cluttering up your workshop?
  11. Ditto. Is the lanyard thing actually doing anything? Looks like you're just standing on your bridge:confused:
  12. As far as I understand it, yes, provided the trailer doesn't weigh more than 750Kgs, and the vehicle/trailer combo is legal ie. The towing vehicle is plated to tow that weight. Personally I find all those regs very confusing. I have a b1+e licence so I know I can drive anything up to 3.5, and tow whatever the vehicle is capable of, up to a 7t train weight. Happy days
  13. not quite, b+e is for towing with any vehicle up to 3.5t where the gtw exceeds 4.25t
  14. Fair enough, still wouldn't be my weapon of choice though:001_tongue:
  15. That's a cracker mate, makes mine seem a little small
  16. I believe that the gtw on a tranny is 5t so you can tow 1.5t, you should be more worried about the truck being over 3.5 than anything else!
  17. I know what you mean but a bit of heaving and grunting to get it on the truck is ok when you have less heaving to feed the chipper if you get me?
  18. As I said, it's a little chipper. If I was ever in the position I needed to buy one I wouldn't bother with anything less than 8". If you look around you can get good second hand bigger chippers for the same money as a second hand 150
  19. Worked with Ed on one occasion, nice fella, hard worker.
  20. Just ask the questions here, I'm sure as a collective, AT members can answer most questions:thumbup1: Maybe get a mod to adjust the title to make it clear this thread is the place to ask?
  21. Great idea mate, would save a lot of repeated threads. If it takes off might be good of it was a sticky
  22. I know some guys who'll get nice and comfy in the middle of a tree the fire away with the poles, mostly dead wooding that is:p
  23. Really disappointing capacity per hour, some jobs a little baby chipper just can't keep up. The old ones, possibly the new ones too, have an annoying habit of pushing curved branches down and getting the butt end stuck behind the anvil
  24. Beware...where are you based?
  25. Worth a try, was going to say I'd do a field test but its probably a bit cold!
