  1. Lawn wouldn't be so tidy then though:sneaky2: Glad to hear you're doing well, keep that old forester on his toes:thumbup1:
  2. Only for multiple trips. If it was a one tree, one load of wood type job it could be good:001_smile:
  3. Tracked chipper teamed with this would be a great combo:thumbup1:
  4. Certainly is a Willow Phil. We discussed using a quad but decided it would probably struggle with some of the bigger loads, there's a fair bit of nose weight on the trailer due to the axle positioning. Doing well cheers, long time no speak! How's things?
  5. Bit of a thread revival! I had the trailer out today extracting Willow and Ash from a large garden, access that I could only just fit the truck through. I've added high sides for a bigger load of small diameter wood. With a little fiddling, we rigged an arb trolley to the back to get some double loads out. There was only two of us on site, though we managed to load some hefty logs onto the trailer combo.
  6. Maggie took their free school milk so they didn't grow big and strong?
  7. In hindsight, it's a shame I didn't get the big pile of cord behind the truck in too. Next time eh
  8. An earlier version is here; http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/picture-forum/49841-arbor-trolley-eat-your-heart-out.html
  9. I built this for less than £60 quid, plus the odd bit of scrap materials I had lying about. It's taken over a tonne before now. The front bolster is adjustable depending on your timber length, the high sides are an addition from today (scrap sofa-bed frame). Being single axle and grass tyres it's pretty good at leaving lawns intact. It'll tow behind a 4x4 or quad, or by moving the axle to the middle and adding a handle, you've got a large arb-trolley type affair.
  10. I got thinking about this today, a brief effort, I'll endeavour to get a couple more
  11. Not really. A kid took my cap at one point, he was soon mobbed by other kids until I had it back. The culture and respect system is completely different to Western culture, so at no point did I feel like anything I was carrying was under threat of theft. I believe the same goes for everyone else.
  12. Coast redwood = Sequoia = Sequoia sempervirens Wellingtonia = Giant sequoia = Sequoiadendron giganteum Both have red (literally) wood, hence the blanket "Redwood"
  13. I much prefer chains to lift and slings to pull. I hate slings for lifting, they can have a tendency to slip at times, plus if you're choking them you're instantly reducing their SWL. Chains make me feel manly too:blushing:
  14. I've just driven from the east coast to north Wales and back over three days in my '57 90. 698 miles to be exact. I've yet to work out the mpg but not too bad. I don't find it uncomfortable at all, felt fine when I got out this evening after a 5 hour straight stint. I normally do 60-80 miles a day for work, averaging 27mpg.
  15. I've been getting the computer fixers a lot lately. At the weekend when I said I wouldn't turn the PC on, the woman said 'up yours!' and hung up. Hardly professional conduct from a pro scammer
  16. Is that why yours still has the crown on it?
  17. Maybe not as tight as you'd like Benn, but they sprung to mind. Nasty Kretsch beech and buildings...
  18. I think I saw it on Facebook through Jack. Looks like an interesting job
  19. Nice work. Is this the one there was a video floating about from before the job? Looks familiar.
  20. Brilliant, can't wait for mine:thumbup:
  21. There's one near me that has a sign outside their yard saying "you've just past" (company name). The funny thing is, I always know exactly what the company is called. Perhaps an unintentional gaff has actually done them a favour. Personally, I try to use and prefer to read properly written text. We have one of the largest, richest languages in the world and it's a shame to waste it.
  22. My 57 plate 90 has a gvw of 2.6t. It's great for towing but a good idea to have a bit of ballast for 3.5t towing. Gets a bit hairy if you're on a dual with nothing weighing the truck down
  23. Long as the vehicle is capable of towing the weight though.
