  1. I'll be trying that I think. Don't have a saw like that. I suppose I could make a massive one out of a log and a chainsaw! Don't know how I'd crush it though!
  2. Will do mark :thumpup1: your a stihl customer so it's ok! I think I will end up getting another hitchclimber! Gotta get another crab too so I've got 4 of the same. I just thought id have a play round and see what I could come up with.
  3. The calendar is one of my favourite additions to the lockup. My grandad wants one!
  4. I like the idea of a sling. I didn't really want to clip to my bridge as I have two metal rings there. I climb with two anchor points sometimes so use these both for that. I've got some QuickDraw slings which should fit perfect. Would keep the crab upright too.
  5. The maillon is to work like a second point of attachment next to the hitch. Like the hitchclimber with it's 3 holes. The maillon creates another hole to clip in to. If that makes sense? Didn't think of that to be honest. Thought it would be a bit tidier together like that. But that would work. I've toyed with the idea of using a small petzl paw rigging plate on my harness bridge. Would this be worth trying? I like to know where everything is so I can grab it all. Everythings got it's own hook!
  6. Just been wasting time in my lockup. Came up with this as an alternative to a hitchclimber. The petzl fixe is taking no load here. It is the maillon hooked on the lower crab in between the cheek plates. Would work better with a spliced eye. I do have a HC but I was thinking of this as having a backup system ready to use? Operates exactly the same. Had no problem with the vt grabbing next to the bowline. Comments?
  7. Our two lapdogs. White one, Sam, is a parsons terrier. The other, bud, is unknown! A fox is the current suggestion! Here's an Alsatian we had up until about 5 years ago. He was 8 when we had him put to sleep. He had almost lost the use of his back legs. Shame as he was a great dog!
  8. The laburnum of mine still isn't going anywhere. Offers there for you.
  9. I know a guy who does mainly lime spreading. He has a bobcat with tracks on. He's got a few toys including a stumpgrinder for it. Great on site clearance jobs for moving logs. Awkward to get used to the controls ie bucket is controlled by your feet but it's great fun!
  10. I wore mine to my first course filthy! They got washed once in their first year. And probably have only been washed 4 times since I got them late 2007!
  11. I wouldn't think it's much different to what it is now!
  12. Can I ask how long you've had the quad? We used to have one just like that! They are great quads. We've also got a navara like that and a winch like that would work well!
  13. I use a right pantin for long straight ascents. Leaves with you energy left after the climb. As you use your stronger leg muscles you climb a bit faster. Works fine with a vt or any other hitchclimber system. Works with prussic and blakes too but you have to advance the hitch yourself.
  14. The exploding cat video made me laugh out loud! As did a few others. What about the nutter to sat astride two cars while they drove toward a post, striking him in the wedding vegetables at about 30mph. That made me wince!
  15. Well he wasnt getting on no plane so he did the next closest thing!
  16. It may take those few seconds longer. But going slow builds confidence in what you do, then your confidence builds your speed. So what difference would it make to clip in? Personally I think not taking a strop up is daft, you never know when you may need it. In the unlikely event you drop your line, and your on something sizeable. You've either gota wait for an aerial rescue or freeclimb down which could end badly! I've had it drummed into my to use my strop. I probably use it more than I need. But if I feel safer doing so, why not?
  17. I echo weedees final comment there! I always use it. Sometimes two if I feel I have to. Depending on what I'm climbing. It's either using the other end of my climbing line or a second strop. Soft strop for silky climbing and wirecore for spiking and saw work. Why would you not bother with an essential piece of kit? Relying on one tie in point? All it takes is one youth from your silky to nick it and your out the tree!
  18. The laburnum is just over half a load in my hilux an to fill it with spalted beech which is in various sizes I would want £100 for the truck full. There is a lot of beech. A lot has been ringed for firewood and wouldn't be many large pieces left but I can have a dig through for a few pieces. There's a spalted beech mushroom carved a couple of weeks ago which would look amazing once it's been rubbed down and smooth.

  19. No worries. I sent that from my phone. Bit sad that I could remember it off the top of my head!
  20. I only use my silky if I cut and chuck. Which tends to be on conifers. Spike up taking the branches of as I go up. Use the tophandle on the way down chogging as I go. Done in an hour for most. Silky helps drag out the process if there's nothing else to do. Plus I can stack brash as I'm going!
  21. Click at top view>toolbars>navigation bar. Or right click just below there where ther isn't a button and click to turn navigation on.
  22. you have pretty much copied me for range of saws, although im still on a 260, i have the same other 2 saws. Ive not had a go on the 261, but like the looks of it and would like to have the more up to date saw tbh, when working near conifers and tight spaces those fumes really make it difficult!
  23. no delivery is extra, as im coming to huddersfield from st helens.

all i have is laburnum and some beech which has some good spalted pieces

  24. yale double esterlon 19mm, the blue one, youll probably struggle to get close to half its breaking strain if you tried!
  25. hi steve is there any chance you could let me know what my first set of tickets were? bought them early december, ive managed to delete the message, i think they were yellow?

    Thanks
