  1. Had a good day yesterday. There's a chance I may have seen some of you but not realised! I was walking round in a stihl shirt at a husky sponsored event! Well done to everyone for organising it. That cheque is an amazing figure, completely selfless, good on you Mick and everyone for donating!
  2. I think his show is pretty good. He's better than he used to be!
  3. Come on then, what did you buy at Capel? I got a 20m poison hi-vee with a splice, some rigging knowledge and a burger!
  4. Were the branches overhanging their land? Or did they enter your clients property to carry out these works? The helliwell system is good for valuing trees.
  5. Lost cause IMO. Not worth the money and time. It'll soon eat it's way through £5k and even then probably won't be as good as a £7k looked after one!
  6. I'm doing the foundation at myerscough and I am pleased with it. I'm doing it full time, but it's still only 3 days a week. There are people on here doing it online and finding it ok. I prefer to do it on campus then younget the interaction and help from tutors
  7. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/climbers-talk/18745-congratulations-jo-hedger.html I think that says a lot!
  8. Well he joined September 09 so probably not! I've seen it on ash that had failed. Did post a thread on it. Seem it on an old sycamore pollard. Would be a crying shame to get rid but it would probably do with a repollard!
  9. Is there not a possibility that the tri dominance is just a bundle planting? Looking at the attachment at the bottom it doesn't look like it's all come from one stool.
  10. pistol works well on marestail, dealt with some big patches along footpaths and pistol always seemed to be the killer, bruising it sometimes didnt cover it all no matter how much i did.
  11. you mean little chocolate i do like the service jo provides got the new forestry commission woodland management book for a discount when it came out! Which reminds me, i may buy some more!

  13. my biggest risks are recreational!
  14. I would sack someone for committing such a crime
  15. Redesigning something may include lowering manufacturing costs and build quality. I've always found knapsacks to be getting worse as you bought newer ones. We've got some older than 5 years and have always been fine. Some new ones have broke within weeks.
  16. Only if it can be justified on the risk assessment. If it gets warm enough to take second thoughts about pants, wear type As!
  17. Ebay is great sometimes. It used to be a place where it was all cheap tat with the odd goodie thrown in. Now it's all shops selling stuff at higher prices with lots of cheap tat and almost no goodies! I bought a rope grab off there for £10.50 and £5 postage. It was very worn. So I decided to put it back on eBay and it went for £39!
  18. I gave it a good clean and it seems to be coming out near the oil cap. Not from it. I didn't think it had oil left it's been sat there bathing in it for a week now!
  19. It looks like someone has had a go before judging by previous wounds. Is the tree dead now?
  20. The limited experience I have of the new England rope I thought it was stiffer than the Yale equivalent. My favourite Yale rope is the scorch. It feels softer than others and runs well on a vt
  21. Thanks. I'll speak to my local dealer and see what he can do with it. I'm tempted to have a go myself but don't want to knacker the saw!
  22. Well are you after a 16 strand rope? There are ropes similar priced made by Yale. All the xtc series aree 16 strand 13mm and very similar to the new England, i have a length of scorch which I really like.
  23. Got an issue with my 200t. It's leaking chail oil a lot. It comes out as its hanging on my harness and drips all over the tree below and has managed to drop about a quarter tank or so onto my shelf where it's stored. Is it an easy fix? Would this be covered under warranty? I've not had it a year yet.
  24. That's sisters for you!
  25. I use the helly Hansen tops. I got an R M Williams top whichnis used in oz. SPF 50+. Really lightweight and stretchy. Good for saw work. Sawdust doesn't stick to it. I rate it well!
