  1. I totally agree, i prefer to only work if possible for those clients who are prepared to do what i believe is in there best interest , both for them in the long term and in the health of the tree, and that often costs a little bit more. Its a good way of building you reputation. Hack and slash is cheep and nasty and better left to those who don't care.
  2. I don't think it will go brown, I'v never seen it done like that before , a reduction, on that sp , like that, but understanding the structural implications I think you'v done a really good job, its still got good form and as you have not reduced the overall canopy excessively, just thinned, as a means of reducing water uptake its a great compromise, whats the timescale for further reductions with a view to at some point in time fully removing? and was it specified or your own well thought out idea:thumbup1: and how long did it take you? its good to think outside the box.
  3. Both, let's categorize it first and go on from there.
  4. Hi Adam, sorry in being slow getting back, do you know me and my company? or have i read you message wrong ? I'm ex RM been in and out twice and over the last 17 years only drawn a very small wage a mth £433 to be exact but i have continually invested in equipment , they are really like my toys if that makes sense, but you can always sell quality machinery if things get tight, while you are still in try and get as much as you can in re training and list all injuries b4 you leave. Agood ticket to try and get is the PTI Tree inspection course LANTRA. talk soon, jesse.

  5. hiluxstihl has the best idear, do you use it your self or is it something you have recently required ? I have used one for many years and know all to well how easy it is to take off a bollock or finger let alone have a peace of exploding macci fly through some ones patio window, unless you are a large hire company i don't think you will get insurance best to offer splitter and operator as a package. i offer mine at £150 half day rate 2-3 tons half day 5-6 tons full day ,with lots of tea and cake, but i try not to do any full days as you have to remove your brain at the end of the day and flush your head out with red wine. mine is a kubota with a pto splitter . with a discount offered on timber produced by my company .
  6. Hay Steve, sorry call me real time slow i'v only just picked up your message, lots of snooping going on but no crime that i know of,have you had any dealings with Mathew Ayers? regards .

  7. Hi Adam good luck, 2 IS ALL YOU NEED AS A TEAM as long as they are all singing all dancing and are the dogs gonads when it comes to all woody things above and below ground level. knowledge and experience being the two key words here. I'v now down sized to just me on the tools and one other monster of a man /ape on the tools (both climbing)we don't have to rush jobs as the time we have spent over the years together has molded us as evolutionary freaks when it comes to tree work, we just bang everything out effortlessly and to a top specification, we have both invested heavily in our Arb professional development and are now reaping the rewards .
  8. Great Tony but at this time of night AND as we have not spoken for a while PANTS too. feel my energy poo pants I,m going nowhere this year bar from a day trip to the coast. I can not at this point even bring myself to put up a smiley.
  9. OMG please no, you know Stihl produce the best saws in the world ,that orange stuff is just rubbish its only when you work it hard that you find out, just look at what all the world wide big timber fellers use. I love stihl, I love sthil now thats not sarcasm its as it is.
  10. OK here is the official status Husqvarna Monoecious only capable of a single task, Stihl Dioecious capable of performing or swinging both ways:thumbup: eg as well as Stihl being a far superior saw certain sp can both chop trees down and trim hedges with a slight of the hand.
  11. That will be fine:thumbup1:
  12. Please, lets all stick to what we are insured and qualified to do, lets leave all those jobs to maintenance contractors , this is an Arb forum. NOT A TRAVELER ONE .
  13. We have far too many rights and regulations in this country so much so that its killing it for small company's , thats going to be the down fall for every one, only large corporate organizations , probably linked to local authority's will do well, and local authority's are developing these company's as we speak to suit there own needs. I am disgusted with what i have recently been asked to review . In the long term we will ALL PAY DEARLY for what LA's and main stream policies are doing. If i do not reply to this its because i'v been snatched and grabbed in the night, please tell Disabled Dan that i love him. ( Jack Russel with special features )
  14. Dito i think thats how you say it, I agree .
  15. Yep thats a fair one i just thought i'd throw it in, at least it will keep you in work
  16. Hi Chris, couldn't you think of anything better than Laurels? very high maintenance, you mentioned a wall and space as being an issue, also direct damage could result as the Laurels mature . What about tralis fixed to the wall and plant along the wall climbers ? sorry about the spelling .
  17. Thanks for that, i did think it would be the 700's, i had thought about getting a second hand wheel off a different grinder with the same center spline and re drilling where necessary. 28hp grinder .
  18. I got a big set of alloy steps you can buy:thumbup: I'l even deliver em for free:lol:
  19. You will go far:thumbup: I used to operate a Milan I loved it pop bang and off it went, I think at that time each pop bang cost the tax payer £24,000.00 Thats a lot of trees, hope you got a nice settlement, have you seen Paint Your Wagon? now thats a great sing along. Just enjoy the rest of you life.
  20. Hi Global, have you ever changed a p28 wheel/set up to the GT700's or would it be the 900's ? I far prefer those cutters.
  21. Yep i know what you are thinking, I am hoping some recovery will acure next year, i have a lot of trees planted of different ages and they have all shown symptoms of stress following the drought spring, worst ones being Red Oak which i planted they have tried and tried to come out in leaf and even now in July with all the rain they are still trying, i always thought that if a tree had not come into leaf by now it was dead, but not these, they just keep on trying, some have gone into full blown leaf burst and the leaves are massive, but half the crop are suppressed with only very small leaf formation showing but they are trying. I think because of the wet summer i may not have any losses . long may it rain:thumbup: HAY the fungi this year is going to be amazing
  22. I would not worry to much if you can just do the change these 700's will well out perform those finger teeth even if they are all set the same, i have the 500's all set the same on a smaller machine and it eats stumps, I also have a p28 and i wish i could put the 700's on that with out changing the wheel.
  23. Looks like an illegal moon shine shack to me.
