  1. I am sure that if you give your TO a ring or email him or her and make your suggestions for replanting and ask him if he approves, or if he has any alternative suggestions that you will find that they are not quite the ogres that some people think and you will very quickly develop a good working relationship with your LPA.
  2. I thought it was fairly clear in 9.14 Replacement of trees: Enforcement, our TO always wants to know whats going back in when you submit an application , I think its something that needs to be clarified with your own local tree officer , yes all of the above as it states but what is your interpretation of 9.14 ? also ref 11.10 I am correct me thinks you will find:thumbup1:
  3. I think a large glass of red wine is in order for you tonight
  4. I wasn't really referring to Bats all though I'm sure they would benefit some where along the food chain , but more as habitat creation for invertebrates which in turn will at some point benefit other wildlife such as Birds. I have come across this as a specification for disposal of cord wood with Habitat creation being the reason,
  5. Most important book to read along side all of the tree and P&D identification books is "Tree Preservation Orders" A guide to the law and good practice - DETR isbn 1 85112 361 x and additions.
  6. Why not go one further and bury it for an even more diverse niche habitat:thumbup1:
  7. Its the quality of glue now made due to EU control
  8. Mendip District council and i think its Bo Walsh I can't just find his number just give him a call TMT, is it the Willow job? have you got any friends with you in the trailer ? or are you alone with Pam
  9. It all depends on the target area? as a tree it is shot but great habitat , also even taking into account its very poor structural condition its now got very little sail. More info required regarding target area and the current land use, private or public access and the owner of the trees requirements, there is little point in getting involved with the issue unless it has relevance to your own safety or that of the general public. If it does have relevance to safety issues write to the owner of the tree and inform them of your concerns and reference there responsibility's under the " Occupiers liability Act " Hope that helps:thumbup1:
  10. Ref 9.14 TPO's A guide to the law and good practice:thumbup1: but i would suggest that not all TO's enforce the issue, complaints would more commonly be raised by local residents, PC's or local ,eagle eyed , Tree wardens, but its always good practice to replant if the space will permit or if not, in a more suitable location on the owners land. I have worked with LPA officers on issues and know that things which some people think the LPA have over looked or forgotten can come back and bite them on the bum.
  11. Its best to contact you own LPA Tree officer to clarify you issues , just ring him or better still email that way you will have a record of your conversation and keep it safe, filed with any invoices for work with that client for future reference.
  12. A" section 211 notice" is your application to the LPA to carry out the work,(6 weeks notice of intent ) if you did not need to submit an application due to the size of the trees being removed, then there is no requirement to replant. There are other exemptions to the 211 notice.
  13. If a tree in a conservation area is removed in contravention of a section 211there is a duty to replant, the same applies if it is removed because of the 3D's The LPA do have the power to dispense with the duty or enforce by serving a tree replacement notice under section 207 of the act:thumbup1:
  14. I have had an sp2010, it was a good grinder, narrow , down side it did give you a good work out and the wire to the electric clutch was a week point, don't know about the bandit i have heard its only good on level ground, i run a carlton 900 , predator 28 and a small husqy, it all now makes for a good combination for me now, the 900 has the 500 series tap&turns it eats through stumps very well. The predator is an aw sum tool. Good luck:thumbup1:
  15. Now then Mark, What about if we entice then round for dinner, nuts and coke-cola, and slip them some Rohypnol we could do what we like with them then:lol:
  16. I think you are a man who is in work all year long, who goes at it steady ,as it should be, there's nothing wrong with £80 a day and yes £10 a ton or more if you can get it, private owned covers they just haven't got the money to pay big bucks, and my prices are about 10 to 15 years old that's because in that time the prices have not gone up nor has the price of fire wood really, by the way tree surgery is my main thing, but i did work in the woods a long time ago and am still in touch with a lot of the old cutters and i know what money they are on today, its PANTS. and so is planting whips . Rant over. one last thing how many of those of you who hit the big day rates work 5days 52 weeks? in the woods?
  17. No, all walls and the ceiling, its the only way, sorry
  18. Lets work this one backwards , day rate £50to£70 (for work in the woods) Depending on ground level conditions and topography lets say you can fell and clean 5 to 7 tones per day then i think you must be some where around the £10 a ton mark, don't all jump on me , yes its been a long time since i did it, and yes i'm sure its still rubbish money:thumbdown: DBH 6-15inch, I'd say about 3 to 5 trees to a Ton. But as i said DON'T ALL JUMP ON ME, the man just wont's an idea.
  19. Great field book , I have over the years stapled add on pages to mine of different finds, from my camera with text from additional research that i have done. Its a very easy read
  20. I'm not a fan of things that crawl, and i have worked there in total for 6mths, on the ground and up the trees, can't say i ever did see one, but i was very , very hungover all the time i was there, i'd say don't worry about it , they are more scared of you. just have fun and enjoy the time. You only live once
  21. Try taking some photographs of it from its most appealing side and list it on Ebay with a 99p start with no reserve Don't forget to put buyer collects
  22. Hi TC, I got my house at auction , its got barns and 10 acres of flat land and i use it in conjunction with my company's , its taken about 10 years to do up but i funded it on an interest only loan through the nation wide, i pay off lump sums as i can and i only owe a small amount now, i did 3 years ago pay it off all but for a £1 kept it going as the deal was within the term if i over paid i could draw on the over payments at any time, and i have during this recession to buy big kit , you know what they say, speculate to accumulate, and when times are hard i think there is no better time to be brave , and " fortune fevers the brave " plus you get the very best deals on new kit:lol: Also in the time i have had, it even in this recession, its now worth twice as much.
  23. You can get a really lush fir burger in kings cross Sydney
  24. Probably the best most apt statement I have read on this forum in a long time, RobArb, did you go to the same school as me and David Cardin ? I think that's how you spell his name, you know, grass hopper, blind man with white eyes who kicked the b Jesus out of every one, in fact that was the teacher grass hopper was the student, with a bold head, when they crossed his path, and told it as it is, a bit like you, and me:lol: Confucius say only fool climb trees:001_tt2: Just remembered his name was Cane
  25. Its a really old heavy saw by today's standards , personally I would leave well alone, the picture looks better than it really is, we last used them about 15 ish years ago. But if you are really interested then buy it but its not worth more than £50
