  1. I assume you mean the new 5837:2012. I have not received mine yet but I assume that they refer to a simple tactile test to assess soil structure, a drainage assessment and a ph assessment ie what trees and plant species are present and doing well or a simple ph test could be carried out but I would not expect that detailed level of assessment at this point. Existing compaction could also be commented on and also the location/presence of virgin ground whioch would provide new quality planting areas subject to adequate protection measures being put in place during the construction phase of the development - my thoughts I hope it helps and I look forward to receiving my new 5837. This info would be invaluable data in respect of recommendations regarding future planting areas and species selection for those areas.
  2. Thanks for that:thumbup1:
  3. I'd say if you are apprehensive about using a chainsaw alone then don't, my confidence became rooted from doing tree surgery work in Australia, we would climb and cut with chainsaws in shorts:thumbdown: it was so hot, I have over the years cut my self with cainsaws, mainly through rushing jobs, so for those of you who wonder what the pain is like this is how i would discribe it- (is this a first for Arbtalk?) The cut-first is observation-lots of red! followed by a tight burning pain/sensation on the wound, Panic- the first time you do it, then after that, if you ever cut your self again it tends to be more of a "ohh bugger" moment, other sensations- wetness (blood) .for me the worst part/pain of a cut is the recovery, for weeks as the injury scabs over there will be times when you forget, at this point when you stretch the skin the pain quickly reminds you of the injury, as the scab cracks thats the worst pain, you tend to say"ohh deer that hurts" or some words like effect:lol:
  4. Just got one tonight of ebay, it won't be the first, its just sorted my summer fun, had all sorts in the past, even put them against my tax:lol:, may do the same with this one, had dorys, raiders, and sailing craft, done lots of diving, and water skying , but most of that water went up my ARS:lol: Diving last i nearly died:confused1: got narked right out@ 35m 0 vis on a drift:thumbdown: it poped my ear drum, no more diving for me. this one is just a small boat . Don't know how to post picks, i will have to ask TMT. but one thing in this crap year, i am going to have some fun, ever seen a fat arborist on a donut:thumbup:

  12. You'v hit the nail on the head, its not so much about safety, its not about the money, if only i could teach Jack to talk, I can no longer work alone, not because of safety, but because i get too BORED, my main man TMT's stories about life as a young man and his sex conquests get me through the day, its ALL ABOUT THE CRACK, not literally, but about enjoying each minute of each day of your life. Working on trees ,pruning, and cutting them down satisfies the pysical appetite which one develops over the years(endorphin stimuli through physial exercise) but mental stimulation is still a requirment, and no, we don't just talk about sex all day. How many of you who work alone talk to yourself? and when you do find yourself in the company of the opp sex become confused, bedazzled or even vejazzle'd ? Thats how they get cheapo quote's:lol: So when you think you are saving money by working alone, think again, it may be that you have been vejazzle'd:thumbup:

Forgot to say my old man has made a living buying bits of land which on there own are worth nothing but when the time comes are worth a lot as ransom stips, hes just in the process of selling a 12" curb line for access to a large development , we are thinking it will be 50 to 100k, its a large site and only one way in:thumbup: he's also done the line thing only it was to have a pole moved, i can't remember the amount but it was a lot, another thing don't rush it, take your time. let the offers come forward.

Go and see a solicitor and get him to condition that on top of your setlement they pay your fees, £82.50 ,is a joke, get your solicitor to do the negotiations. Developers will try it on every time:thumbdown: also get him to check out your boundery lines. You may also find you have a ransom strip!! which could be worth lots of money. Good luck.
