  1. Im not sure if the crank is f'd? How much play is too much? Bearings seem ok. The rest of the saw is in great condition. Thoughts on Hutzl or similar pot and piston?
  2. Stihl 361, cracked piston. Looks rank inside. Cylinder shot? Crank? Opinions please.
  3. Not exactly comparable saws really. 365 is a size smaller Cc wise and old technology, compared with the brand new 462. 365 is still a very capable saw.
  4. Good to know, I had doubts as its pretty soft? Not my favourite either, hockles badly for me.
  5. How does it go on Voyager?
  6. Nice Reg.
  7. True, but already carrying alot, and tend to be in tall conifers so less is more where gear is concerned. Cinch etc not an option, cant use a foot ascender below, and Im not pissing about with RADS. Seems the only improvement would be spendy, tazlov, BDB etc. Guess Ill stick with the ropeman for now.
  8. Any new thoughts on progress capture? I currently use a Ropeman 2, I like that its quick to install and small/compact. Disadvantage, cant let out smoothly. Would rather not use a hitch as takes time to tie, and I tend to use the tail of my climbing line, so cant leave it inplace.
  9. Huxleys Little David?
  10. Yeh they are big, but more similar to an f150, not built for our kind of work. Not sure on the 5000kg?
  11. Nice trucks, not up to daily tree work though. One of ours guys has one. More a sport utility style pickup.
  12. Its possible to locking brummel boths ends, form both eyes before putting the rings in place. Get tenex tec, its a twin carrier so a little more hard wearing than regular tenex.
  13. Tenex tech is easier for sure, but picks easily so maybe not ideal for remote retrieval?
  14. ?. Looked like a tricky job, a good plan, and well executed!
  15. IIRC, it was a heavily leaning tree, so they couldnt neg rig it, so he stripped the crown and rigged it into 2 adjacent trees and lowered the entire stem in 1. Cut used to hold the stump in position along with the 2 guy ropes.

Quality as always Reg! Do you manage to keep working all winter there, or get some downtime? We have packed in for the winter, too much snow.
  17. Docma Vf80 looks interesting, hadnt heard of before. Have used the PCW extensively, its a very capable machine. Dont think the 4stroke is an issue as the machine will always right itself when pulling, we certainly used ours in some rough terrain. I would think capstan style is more useable, as not restricted by cable length?
  18. Todays Cottonwood removal. Twin stem at 8ft. Approx 140ft tall. Luckily we didnt have to move the wood.
  19. Nicely done as usual. 4 men? Does the blockdriver ever see the light of day anymore? Some of those looked on the heavy side to be pushing!
  20. If you are taking chunks onto a speed line of a size that makes you wonder about the safety, Id say the chunks are to big. I wouldnt be comfortable with the 2-1 effect of a base tie in that situation.
  21. Thinning a small forested area today, brought this in to help out.
  22. Yeh potentially looking for a second smaller truck along side our F650 with BC1200.
  23. Feel free to PM me with the details if you do sell it, they are hard to find. Out of interest, have you found a good body builder to fit out the new Dodge? I spoke to Langfab and they had a 2 yr wait!
  24. Nice Reg. Are you selling the Ford, as I may be interested, depending on details. Have been looking for a smaller chip truck, but no luck so far.
