  1. ?. Looked like a tricky job, a good plan, and well executed!
  2. IIRC, it was a heavily leaning tree, so they couldnt neg rig it, so he stripped the crown and rigged it into 2 adjacent trees and lowered the entire stem in 1. Cut used to hold the stump in position along with the 2 guy ropes.

Quality as always Reg! Do you manage to keep working all winter there, or get some downtime? We have packed in for the winter, too much snow.
  4. Docma Vf80 looks interesting, hadnt heard of before. Have used the PCW extensively, its a very capable machine. Dont think the 4stroke is an issue as the machine will always right itself when pulling, we certainly used ours in some rough terrain. I would think capstan style is more useable, as not restricted by cable length?
  5. Todays Cottonwood removal. Twin stem at 8ft. Approx 140ft tall. Luckily we didnt have to move the wood.
  6. Nicely done as usual. 4 men? Does the blockdriver ever see the light of day anymore? Some of those looked on the heavy side to be pushing!
  7. If you are taking chunks onto a speed line of a size that makes you wonder about the safety, Id say the chunks are to big. I wouldnt be comfortable with the 2-1 effect of a base tie in that situation.
  8. Thinning a small forested area today, brought this in to help out.
  9. Yeh potentially looking for a second smaller truck along side our F650 with BC1200.
  10. Feel free to PM me with the details if you do sell it, they are hard to find. Out of interest, have you found a good body builder to fit out the new Dodge? I spoke to Langfab and they had a 2 yr wait!
  11. Nice Reg. Are you selling the Ford, as I may be interested, depending on details. Have been looking for a smaller chip truck, but no luck so far.
  12. So 2 lines tied to the branches, pulling the slack through the redirect as they came down, then transfering over to the redirect?
  13. Nice Reg, some autumn we are having. Could you exain the redirect 30ft up the neighbouring tree? Interested to know how you overcome the daily issue of wires in the drop zone. My usual system is to throw a rope over them and pull away from or into the tree, which ever gives me more space.
  14. Yeh its not that bad. Ah, this saw is in the PNW. Whistler BC, so wont be making the trip to Spud unfortunatly.
  15. Thanks Spud. It seems to me that it has good compression, but I dont have any tools to test that. Im getting a good spark and the plug is brand new. Choke is functioning fine. Air filter is clean. The muffler isnt blocked, but the exhaust port is very blackened, how bad would it need to be to cause issues? The electrical stuff is abit to advanced for me atm. I think its time for it to go to the shop, its 1.5hrs away so was hoping to avoid. Thanks
  16. I think it does have 2 faults yes. First a bad carb, second unknown. Yes I swapped a carb in from a healthy saw, it ran, idled, and rev up but was gutless, so assuming the original carb is bad, what would make the saw have no power yet run ok with no load?
  17. Stuck another carb in, ran well on tick over, revd up well, abit smokey, but wont work under load at all!
  18. Ive taken it apart again today. Impulse line looks fine, didnt remove it though. Fuel line also looks fine, and tank breather. Took the carb apart and cleaned it as best I could with carb cleaner. Air filter is clean. Its running a little better, revs out to near max, but chain runs fast without throttle, if I apply chainbrake it will stall out quite quickly, but if I adjust the LA any lower it wont run at all. I have another strong running 461, so Ill swap the carb out and see what happens.
  19. Thanks chaps, things to do later then. Spud, it will rev up but not to maximum. Yes it is smokey. Currently cant get it to idle, wont run long enough to tune it at all. I have a feeling its the carb, especially as our fuel here has lots of ethanol in it.
  20. Hi all. I have a 461 that I cant get running, so looking for advice/ assistance. Its a 4yr old saw, that works hard. It will fire up, runs rough and then cuts out. I have pulled it apart, sprayed the carb with cleaner, and set it to factory spec, although the H screw doesnt seem to have a limiter? New plug. Bore and piston look good to me, seems lots of compression. Exhaust port is blackened but open, and I have removed the spark arrester. Has fresh fuel in it. Any ideas?
  21. Nice. Ive often thought about something similar, never implemented. How do you think the labour costs compared vs a few ground guys and a crap drag?
  22. Bump... We are again looking for staff in Whistler BC. Currently open to anyone with some experience and a valid work permit for Canada, to finish the season with us, typically mid november. Possibility of futher employment in the spring. Thanks Paddy.
  23. If you are chipping into it a 1500/f150 is useless, itll be on its arse.
  24. Friday afternoon dead Fir on the shores of Green Lake, Whistler. Couldnt really ask for a better spot. Bit windy and breadstick like up high so moved into the next tree for the top.
  25. Whats the lad actually trained to do? Has he been put through alot of training in a short space of time and then promptly left? Tough thing as a business owner Id imagine.
