    Fir logs

Looks nice there. When you are zip lining the logs, are you using the same set up as you use on brush? Or bigger slings and a pulley on the line? And tensioned down to a device on a tree? Cheers Paddy.
  2. Welded up? Have you just added to an old set? A photo perhaps?
  3. Anyone one know where in the UK I can get hold of some new gaffs for my Klein Spikes? Or maybe have a spare set lying around? Cheers.
  4. Another good video Reg. Are you guys wearing radios for communication? I look forward to these tall trees.
  5. Anyone need a hand? Had a day cancelled at short notice. Anywhere in Devon or south Somerset. Climber but happy to do whatever is required. Cheers Paddy
  6. Cheers Steve, still in Devon until I go if you need a hand. Thanks guys will look into those firms. Need to write up a CV and will get it sent out. Much appreciated.
  7. Well not sure thats what I'm coming for Reg, hope you arent there for that either! Its not my first trip out there, wasnt in tree work the last time. But tree's have taken me around the world abit, and BC is next on the list. Not on my own, me and the girlfriend, but there's nothing tying us to anywhere. Cheers for the help anyways, best book a flight.
  8. Coming out on a Work Visa, with a view to staying. Sounds like it could be difficult, contracting especially. Certainly good to know before hand. I was swayed to the island because of its climate. Maybe thats not a good reason. Being on a work visa hopefully means I can have a try with other places too I guess. Will certainly give Victoria a try though. Always up for a beer cheers.
  9. Thanks Stuart. Like I said, mostly due to the politics etc I favour the smaller firms. I see you are in Squamish, I wouldnt have thought there was much in the way of tree work there, quite a drive to the next towns. Do you get up to Whistler for work? I will contact Davey and Bartletts but hope to have some other options to explore when I get there. I was intending on bringing all my kit, whats the cost of gear out there vs the uk?
  10. Thanks Reg, I have looked at both Bartletts and Davey, I just seem to get on better with the smaller firms. I contract climb here, but I think a steady job out there will be the way forward. How does the industry fluctuate through the year? I did live in Van for a few months a few years ago and liked it but I just really fancy the island. Cheers for the help.
  11. Treeworker are out near reading.
  12. Another derail, any tips on where to look for tree work jobs in BC, ideally the island? Heading out in March.
  13. Hi all, Just received my Canadian Work Visa, valid for the next year. So now looking for work opportunities. I am an experienced climber, currently contract climbing, but looking for employment out there really. Well versed in all tree work. have worked around the UK, and spent a fair while in NZ. I am ideally looking for work on Vancouver Island, but open to other places. Any help or pointers very welcome. Thanks Paddy

    solo rigging

Hi Reg, Useful technique. Why do you have the line set doubled? Possibly to have lines in opposite side of the canopy? Cheers Paddy
  15. As suspected. Good stuff. Nope I gave up looking once it was drained, just left the bungs out, will try and work it out when its dry sometime. If you ever find out let me know. Cheers.
  16. I doubt its the heater matrix, for 3 reasons. Firstly it would smell of anti freeze, second, the window would fog badly when using the heaters and get coated with a fine film of anti freeze, and third it would be using water, and start running hot. Had the matrix go on my old Hilux, and since getting a Mazda and having this problem I am almost certain its the sills filling with water.
  17. I have the same truck with the same problem, I havent found where it comes from, but it collects in the sills. Get underneath it, in the front of the sills there are 2 small rubber bungs. Pull them out and the sills should empty. As long as they dont fill up, the water cant over flow into the foot wells. Sorted mine out. A friend has a Ranger with the same problem.
  18. Another BUMP. I am here and ready to work. Short notice, long term, whatever is needed. Possibly just an extra hand clearing up this weather damage? Have a 4x4 pickup if helpful? Thanks Paddy
  19. Bump. Had some interest, so looking to book in work from the 28th october onwards. Will be in the Exeter area but happy to travel within reason. Paddy
  20. Hi all, to cut a long story short I am a contract climber looking at moving to Devon. Most likely the Exeter area. Looking for companys that may be interested in my services. Happy to do days or weeks or more. I have been climbing for 7 yrs, got all the relevant tickets. Nice wide range of experience. ND in Forestry and Arboriculture. C+E Driving Licence. Good collection of kit if needed. I have been working in London for the last few months, prior to that I was in New Zealand for 14 months. If I may be of use please either PM me and I will call you back, or call me on 07708931224. Many Thanks Paddy Vero.

    super cab

mazda b2500, although essentially the same as a ranger.
  22. Any natural fat is best, I use veg oil on kitchen towel. No scrubbing needed, just wipes off.
  23. Was on the 6oclock news Friday night I think. Was driving through London Saturday morning and saw a city and suburban truck full to the gunnels with pop. Bet that was this tree.
  24. Was hoping for somewhere further north, 120 mile round trip to hire from them. Managed to find someone hiring a timberwolf 13/75, not ideal but ok. Anyone ever got one into the back of a pickup?
  25. Looking for somewhere that hires out chippers north of Newcastle. Either a tracked machine or a wee chipper type, all my local hire places have those rubbish canon things that dump it all on the floor. If anyone can help I would very much appreciate it. Thanks Paddy.
