for felling in forest and snedding day in day out youd be suprised what you can fell with a 15" bar if doing the correct cuts - even upto medium trees in some cases - the best for lightweight all round saw is a husky 346xp with a 15" bar nice and light got power - then for bigger a 441 with a 25" bar
  5. tommer9 - ive got some of that mud for sale - do you think theres a market for it?
  6. thats one work of art - shame to break it up - a thing of beauty
  7. nothing on the tele - bored - no moonshine in the house! - fed up with rain so I thought id take the mick abit
  8. dont worry we run our company on tata pickups, lada company cars, mcculloch chainsaws and argos shredders - havent had any problems - company moral A1 and streeet cred brill - got up and running for £300 out of argos catalogue - dont know what you husky men have got against us argos people:lol::001_rolleyes:lol:
  9. have you tried contacting your local farmers "hub", we have one in Staffordshire that sends out a newsletter to local landowners/farmers quarterly or local NFU rep.? local Forestry Commission? CLA?
  10. just watched gordon ramsey - a thai curry looks very tempting at 11 at night when youve got the munchies
  11. was it the funny handshakes and showing your nips that made you change from being a mason - as their are some odd greatings in the tree world:laugh1:
  12. just to add, i checkd ours - from machine mart, it came direct from their supplier when we ordered it - Youngman - who are a reputable supplier of ladders , it is ce approved and tested to 150kg at height. etc - very good piece of kit for tall conifers etc - bit expensive at £327.98 inc VAT and have to wait for delivery 2 weeks usually - from machinemart nationwide. hope this helps
  13. cant get on to their website for the moment, might be our connnection too slow - our is blue and yelllow if thats any help
  14. weve got a set of tripod ladders from Machinemart, the largest set - work well no probs so far encountered
  15. another good one is mascus - got good prices if you can import them at reasonable cost
  16. good luck , well done and all the best - Mr Logbaron thinks hes too old to climb and hes only 30 - no joking - one of our lads Captain is over 40 and hes as fit as a flea will fell and sned all day long like a robot!, yet new guy at 24 struggles snedding for one day as for me, mrs logbaron I past my chainsaw certificates and still groundie for him when the lads are busy and im --, well lets just say older! as for MEWPS - it does come in handy but get your climbing first and chainsaw from rope and harnesss and then you can use the chainsaw from the MEWP or else I think its another test to chainsaw from the mewP
  17. does this thread not worry anyone - that people can still buy a chainsaw without knowing how it works or even having a course on how to use one? not dissing anyone - I know weve all got to start somewhere - but many moons ago when we attended college/training before we even started the saw we were taught how to take it to bits and back together again/safety features etc even me - Mrs Logbaron have done my NPTC cs30/31 before I even helped start forestry - is it the cost of training that puts people off?
  18. could well be Ivy, I made the mistake of smelling Rohans fleece (not being Kinky just checking it wanted washing - a womans thing! trying to cut down wasing!) and couldnt stop sneezing for 3 days - first day was struck to my bed with flu like symptoms - and No it wasnt Roh's B.O. - but that could have been a significant factor When the lads have done Ivy in the past they are very often sneezing/headachey the next day and can last several days - with red blotches on arms that were exposed to it no one yet had any probs with pines thank goodness - but I think Ivy is one to be respected and take care also is it at this time of year the Ivy is flowering? could be the pollen also released - will have to check with Rohan on that but I know Rohans always said Ivy is terrible to skin and breathing probs. can happen when clearing off walls/trees etc had probs in the past hope you feel better soon and the results come through OK for you to carry on, might have to have a cautizone cream or similar?
