  1. our countys, one an 1004 now sold, but pics of our 1124 before and during full rebuild and recon. will post a pic of how she is now
  2. depends how its been felled and terrain - we do alot of coming in after harvesters so could be between 15-30 tonne - trouble is theres alot of things that you have to way up on each individual job - if getting the stuff the harvestors cant get you have to do alot of setting up and then skylining off then moving rig and setting up again and sometimes its a nightmare to get a decent bit of tonnage off
  3. think there all on the same principle - but theirs have powered carriages with engines on
  4. Feshie - working with Scottish Woodlands and skylining with Comray & Rory Stuart
  5. Glen Feshie Estate, working with great lads like Comray Stuart and Rory - The Prosser boys - Derek and Donald with Harvester, hand fellers - Keith & Carl - working for Scottish Woodlands - met some great Scottish Lads!
  6. do you mean where were based? - near Uttoxeter, Staffs pics where taken in Scotland - working near Aviemore in October - December last year - had to pull out early as the weather changed. - freezing the drums solid down to minus 10 and spending 2 hours lighting fires under the brakes to free them off - then when the snow thawed after a few hours, wading in 2 foot of water when you step out of the cab.! - oooh what a lovely job that was! - but what we have to do to make a living
  7. some skyline pics of our timbermaster skyline - had a few people enquire what our avatar pic was - heres a few pics for you all to look at

We have just done up our county 1124 with a boughton 20t winch on which was long overdue an engine rebuild which also has worked a hell of a lot winching timber out of lakes etc and pulling trees over. will try and put some pics on - anyone know how you upload them?
  9. not trying to upset you - our prices are our prices, yours are yours - whats your prob. - were all far enough away from each other - whats your problem :confused1: the more competition the better - keeps us all on our toes and when them logs are a burning - theyll soon want replacing:thumbup1:

  13. seem to remember we paid about 3-500 quid for ours few years back (from fuelwood) and at the time, the lads thought they would make one themselves - but then him indoors thought about it and after thinking it was just another project to get round to bought one, it was the best thing we had - load it with crane a good load on then just pull off onto the processor with hook. then we updated to a hydraulic feed japa - even better.
  14. We fell all our own timber from Forestry Commission for Firewood production - wouldnt touch windblown too much effort to get back the bit of return we do, taking out all our costs - employees wages, fuel, repairs, cutting wood, forwarding wood, transport to yard, stack for a year, process, load into truck, deliver to customer - when youve taken out all your costs you sometimes feel youve done all this for veryvery low return - youll never be rich in firewood!
  15. V.good if got a lot of space, weve got a JCB loadall, but remember there not very maneouvreable - but can lift alot, also will churn your ground up, unless your lucky and got lots of concrete. They all have their pros and cons. Big bobcat with good attachments is what where looking out for as another yard machine, as forklifts need concrete unless paying alot for rough terrain ones. tractor and loaders are not very manouvreable and also if youve got to keep taking tractor off machine to move bags you soon get fed up of this. Unfortunately in this game - as alot of people find out when you want to do this in a big way or fultime you need alot of big machines, tractors, loaders and then its a bigger splitta or a faster processor or a better truck - when will these men be happy with what theyve got - signed a disgruntled wife who wishes her man would spend as much on her as his bloody county!!! sorry to take it out on this thread - but sometimes I feel like I logbarons secondbest - his real wife is his tractor!
  16. Ashridge trees Buy Hedging, Hedge Plants, Fruit Trees, Soft Fruit, Roses, do a good service, used them before for fruit/nut trees etc
  17. Great minds think alike!
  18. japa do a reasonably priced log deck with no hydraulics on, could load with a cheap bobcat with grab on and have a set of pallet forks on as well for moving bulk bags., so you dont have to keep reattaching tractor.
  19. one lady we delivered to said she couldnt get our logs to burn on her brand new woodburner - when we went into the immaculate front room, she was putting on one big lump of dry beech from us and trying to light it with a match! - when I pointed out she needed some paper and sticks or a firelighter - she said - oh if I knew it was going to be this messy I wouldnt have installed it - it was only that the mothers at preschool had all got one that Ive put one in - unbelievable hey ....
  20. hope you get your grant, we cant get anything around us, if we were a few miles closer to Birmingham wed have grants coming out of our ears - had to buy everything we own ourselves and never had a helping hand from anyone - am I bitter - no, :sneaky2:just jealous - hope it works out for you all the best them log people in Staffordshire:thumbup1:
  21. Knowing Richard & Peter at Fuelwood - they are tweaking their machines all the time - weve got Splitta & Transaw and had Kindlet and we demo for them and they are always working at improvements all the time and because they are all handmade at Beausale they will add on any bits you want or tweaks etc that you may require - they DO actually listen to your feedback and are constantly improving - which I think is very good of a small company trying to stay ahead of the game and making a British Product to compete with all that foreign equipment - ooh dear I feel the National Anthem coming on...
  22. yes fair point, but I speak as I find, and we have had large forestry kit off jas'p's before and had probs - sometimes ok & come out ontime others they seem to have off days or three - but we do deal with other people all over England & Scotland, Wales & Ireland and they may be brill as encountered by others but thats just as weve found. not so with Fuelwood or yes even Caledoniaon we do deal alot with many other Forestry companies but sometimes the chap down the road is better than the one 200 miles away? isnt it?
  23. thats alright if you live in Scotland and want spares or advice quick - but you cant beat fuelwood for backup - we deal alot with them and they give advice, spares and mechanics call out even on a Sunday! which means alot in this game. People who sell things a way off may have a good product - but not always a good backup service - regards joy and rohan
  24. I would buy a kindlett off fuelwood, thats what we started with many moons ago, as I always think its better to produce your own - like you say - keeps a check on quality product etc. And why rent or buy in if your thinking long term - you can start payback your investment straight away. We are wholesalers - but if you want to setup and get it right straight away - make sure your processor can cut at exactly 6" for the kindlett, and that the wood is pretty much knot free (I know - almost impossible) but sort it as your filling it, keep the knotty bits for logs, keep the good bits for sticks - Larch is v.good, then scots - Bag supplies for your bags - very good quality, although pay a bit more , good quality bags. Have you got your truck sorted - got our new transit on the road today
  25. If you are wanting Forestry Contractors - pm if you are, we carry out this sort of thing if you are interested in us see our web RM Yeomans Forestry Contractor and Firewood Merchant | Home cheers joy
