  1. So if you been rolling around in the stuff did it cure your nightmares and attract money to your wallet. Did you attract love and how many potpourris did you make
  2. If you replant the hedge she will come back again. If you refund the money she will want compensation. Some you just cannot win. As you get older you get better at weeding these people out at the quoting stage.
  3. Selling from your residence or business I think is ok . Pitching up in a layby and selling comes under a different set of rules.
  4. my 98 with 170k the door switch for the interior light does not work was thinking of getting watch dog on the case does nobody make things properly these days:biggrin:
  5. We get about 60 bags of kindling from a cu metre bulk bag of prepared off cuts. I would say a solid cu metre of timber will produce 1.5cubic metres or 90 bags of kindling. We have tried round timber a few times and it drives us mad so unless we have enough joinery off cuts we dont bother. I hope you have more luck than us. If you get too busy to make kindling my wife makes thousands of bags would be great to supply you.
  6. Ours has 170k had it 2 years apart from oil change and brakes not put a spanner to it. I would rather a lux with 200k than anything else with 60k. When I bought ours I see some with 400k and the only fault was not much seat left
  7. Would it be better to just use a poly tunnel for 9 months of the year and not bother during the winter. We have a tunnel and it must get up above the 40's in the summer. Even in march it must be late 20's. The tunnel costs nothing to run on a daily basis.
  8. I would also check out harrier or clarks
  9. Sogeffi or something similar own fram and lots of others. I dont think there is anything wrong with the filters. Just watch that they are oem spec. If a filter needs a non return valve and does not have it the engine may be starved of oil for the first few seconds. There is often more inside these filters than a bit of paper.
  10. 4pm christmas eve when they notice there is only 3 logs left in the basket and the snow outside is a foot deep.
  11. I think I have km2s on the hilux tipper. Goes through everything, very quiet, done 12k still look new, grips well in wet. Only down side increases fuel consumption. Otherwise I would put new ones on our d2 van. Because we climb out of mud then drive to scotland some times I think bfg at will be going on this week.
  12. Can u get proper tyres for the d4 . We need to move on from our d2 van. But I think for pulling heavy trailers out of muddy fields u cant beat a bit of speed and a centre diff lock. Our D1 was better at this than the current d2. The electronic toys are good solo but different game with trailer.
  13. discovery and defender virtually the same running gear. I have owned both the discovery has more comfortable seats and the doors fit and the heater works.
  14. Try and consider the neighbours. silent genset electric saw. Do as much as u want and dont worry unless the council contact u. Then move to another garage.
  15. It was, I discovered there is life outside Arbtalk. I also discovered I am married with two children. I tried conversation with wife but she did not say much she has new ipad and is addicted to face book. Thanks to steve and all the mods I can now stop breathing into a brown paper bag. only joking I am actually a more rounded person than that just not much
  16. I think for some things we need a firing squad rather than a firewood squad.
  17. You could educate the garage by comparing your logs with the kiln dried stuff with a moisture meter. A poytunnel with prevailing wind blowing through will dry logs in a couple of weeks in the summer. But its probably easier to build a kiln that will take a pallet at a time. Makes you wonder just how many of these logs actually make it to the kiln. I think kiln dried is now the name for dry. Who actually polices whether the logs have been kiln dried ?
  18. I seem to remember getting flamed by a member called wired for smoke who had recently joined. Totally uncalled for ignorant rank came back. I think this was your previous screen name ? . You wont remember it because I simply dont reply to people like that. I think you reap what you sow in life and on here.
  19. we have a bit of everything. For towing upto 2000kg you will be fine with the rodeo. If we need to tow 3tonnes or more its an auto landcruiser amazon 4.2 or manual disco td5. I would not be towing more than 2000kg with an auto unless I had at least 165 hp.
  20. You should be able to pick up a cheap unbraked trailer intended for carrying a roller or similar. Once you have the grinder on your truck the c of g will be high and you need to take the ramps to unload other end. Having the buck empty leaves room for other things.
  21. I buy in 200 litre barrels i think the 3 year is £1.20 a litre and 5 year £1.40. My knowledge on oil is less, its brown if the engine lives it was good. I think Timber cutter on here was in the lube business and does not speak highly of some synthetic oils. I got the impression some is poor quality man made stock.
  22. I own a discovery van but when someone says Landrover owner I think of the really fast show years ago. There was two hairy beareded freaks sat in a lr buggy thing at the bottom of a steep slope, next the view was hidden by smoke and lots of noise they were bouncing up and down when smoke cleared they were still at the bottom . I travel across salisbury plain servicing gensets and often find people up to their wing mirrors in mud been there hours. Those little rovers should be easier for me to pull out especially with my road tyres on
  23. Begining of October is a good time to check antifreeze on everything in the yard. We change antifreeze when condition indicates. in the last few years the 5 year stuff is now about the same price as the old bluecol stuff. I dont like changing coolant every 2 years especially in hard water areas as the minerals can build up and clog rads. If you have had an engine freeze and 'got away with it ' keep a close eye as often in a few weeks the head gasket goes or core plug falls out or a manifold somewhere has a crack in it. Dont want to bore the pants off but after 20 years of looking after large gensets have a good knowledge on Antifreeze if anyone needs advice.
