  1. I filled two trolleys and stocked up for the next couple of months and Christmas. I spent £211.00 did I get loyalty points no I got a parking ticket for £70. You can only park for an hour and a half and I was there for one hour 39 minutes. Waste of time on there part as I only pay parking tickets from council car parks not private sharks.
  2. We don't sell the Chinese stuff but you can pick them up on eBay for about £900 sometimes they last years if looked after often they last 15 minutes . We sell a pramac p6000s last time I looked it was about £2500.00 +vat genuine yanmar engine and really quiet.
  3. Ed is a nice chap and almost a neighbour give or take 20 miles
  4. 4 kva minimum. We run ours at shows etc on one of those orrible 5.5 kva Kama/ kipor diesel Chinese things. And it handles it nicely even on knots.
  5. It's got worse because benefits have been cut back and the price of scrap is on the floor. Programmes like rouge traders and watch dog have educated the public not to employ casual labour. I think most of it is done by organised groups of natives.
  6. Everyone is worried about carrier bags but you should see the amount of out of date food and packaging the supermarkets skip around the back. They throw it out rather than reduce it and damage sales.
  7. Half my shopping comes from aldi. More often than not fresher and half the price. Their bags are 9p but much stronger and good fun to wave above your head when in tesco and the like. I find massive queues in tesco and the attitude of the staff dreadful.
  8. My tyres were like brand new after 9 years then I put concrete down and they were bald in two years. With new tyres mine would cross 18 in deep mud and climb out of ditches but it is sliding about a bit. Now
  9. The other thing I discover is I wanted a jcb with joystick as it felt smoother and easier to use . I got an amazing deal on a bobcat 753 a 1997 it was 3 years old at the time for £4500.00. It was horrific to drive for the first 3 hours then it became second nature. The bobcat is much faster and agile than the jcb robot. In fifteen year I have changed the oil a few times and cambelt and one fuel solinoid and that has been it. If I had the jcb it would have been a bit dull once you got used to it. Although the big advantage to the jcb is you can leave the cab with the bucket or forks raised which is a pita with a cat.
  10. I have had loaders on tractors but find them too slow and cumbersome. The other benefit with bobcat is you can move the bucket or forks from side to side. The quick release system means you can have loads of attachments and leave your tractor attached to the processor.
  11. I used to load logs with a bobcat. Unless you have a concrete floor you will be picking up dirt. It's possible to chase them around the yard but to make it efficient you need a clamp of solid wall to push up to. If you are working on dirt floors the bobcat will chew up the area and turn it into a bog with in the hour.
  12. It's a small 5 kw hunter. You could be right if I burn hard wood I crack it open about an eight of an inch. From experience we seem to get most heat and log life with it shut especially if it's windy. I will try a few more experiments
  13. I bought peltor ones specified for jump jets. Have abused my hearing in the past working on big generators. Now 47 and have tinnitus . Recently had a hearing test and found a small problem in exactly the frequency you would expect of someone working in heavy engineering. Apparently I have trouble with the shhh sound like shopping. But I can't hear the words decorating, car cleaning, grass cutting or house work either. I can how ever still hear a ring pull from half a mile away.
  14. Not trying to knock the use of waste for heat but that's not what Verdo do. I have one of these biomass plants up the road would they be interested in our dry fine sawdust or are they likely to have a gate fee
  15. Hotmax burns well in our stove. This is made by bedmax and is a waste by product of their main production of horse shavings. So I can see the point in this. Maybe one of the tests should be how much energy does it take to cut softwood into blocks vs compresses bricks and what do you get out of ea. I like the KISS principle and sometimes I think we get to involved looking for a solution to a problem that does not actually exist but does have a grant attached to it.
  16. I am not saying bricks are no good all wood burners are different could just be my set up. I used to burn two year seasoned beech. But currently burn 3x2 softwood off cuts the top flap is shut and bottom cracked open on our hunter. The heat out put is better but it does burn about a third quicker. With beech I used empty the ash pan every two to three days now it's over a week. When changing from a dense hard wood to soft wood it takes a bit of time to get the confidence to shut the flaps down.
  17. Verdo are 3 miles up the road from us I tried their stuff and it was a waste of time. My stove runs the hottest on softwood off cuts which people turn their noses up and throw away. Seems strange theire is a whole industry that puts a lot of energy into mashing up something that already burns better.
  18. Sounds like the man on the disco forum that lives near Salisbury. Seems An expensive slow way to take vehicles abroad.
  19. I have had brand new and old dogs. Now I buy 3 years old with 60 k on the clock white no aircon, no bling, no high out put guzzling fan dango engine. Last one was a 3 year old Vito from the main merc dealer new service, mot, tyres and 3 months warranty. 7 k plus vat had it 2 yeArs and just replaced the wiper blades. I don't buy ford Vauxhall or French. And I try not to run them past 140 k or 8 years. There may be plenty of life left in them but the repairs and in hassle are a lot more than the depreciation on something newer. Looking at your original post it occurred to me maybe your going from one extreme to the other. 198 k to brand fire new. Maybe the cheaper answer lays in between.
  20. I used to fit those smiths industries pump packs to tail lifts. From memory there will be a large battery positive from the battery or starter motor. There should be an inline fuse from the solinoid on the pump to the isolator in the cab. I would imagine the up and down buttons will be fed from this before going back to power pack.
  21. I have a large 6 in job for my garden complete over kill but I hate the small twig snappers. Even some of the large hyd feed machines are un impressive but the little gravity machines some are slower than a pair of shears. There are a couple of little machines that punch above their weight steve Blair has one think it is made by green mech could be a cs100 called Gloria.
  22. Jon I don't think you can be sectioned for parking on single yellow line but may pay not to push it case they find other reasons.
