  1. I'm now starting to do some weight lifting and made this, Still needs a little fine tuning and tube trimming to size, all made from a thicker walled scaffold tubing and only cost £60.
  2. Hi, Thanks for your advice, after re greasing the slides a few times after some use it is definitely pulling brash in easier. A few of the roller blades appear to have chips out of them so I will see that they are checked when it goes in for it's next service. Like I said previously it was like that from new and just got told it needed running in. Thanks again for your help, Stuart.
  3. Thank you for your reply, I will check over the slide and roller blades on Monday. If no improvement asking one of the others with a chipper if I could swap springs with them for a day might be worth a try. Thanks again, stuart.
  4. Hi, I use a 150DHB which has approximately 200 hours use from new. Right from the start it never seemed to pull branches in very well, needing excessive trimming to enable them to go through. I was told by various people that it was because it was new and it would get better after some use but hasn't. The rollers continue to turn but it just isn't pulling stuff in. Other people have also commented on how bad my chipper is compared to theirs, so I don't think it's the size of branches I am putting in or how they are trimmed. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Stuart.
  5. If you are not too far from the coast, hazel sticks are still used on crab pots, well they are in Norfolk.
  6. Isn't it within 15 meters of any equipment and two tree lengths if being felled, if not authorized?
  7. If I understand correctly, the karabiner stays on your harness and you put the strop into it. If thats right these would hold the karabiner where you need it to be. BEAL Pinch Stuart.
  8. No, I'm sorry, I misread your original post. Is it the double braids that use both their core and jacket for strength, as the yale xtc plus is spliced with a class 1 eye splice and core dependents ov, Armor Prus etc. should be done with a class 2 splice. Or is there more to it?
  9. And some, Yale xtc plus for example, the jacket provides the strength.
  10. How can it be made of the same construction/materials but be a different class? And some ropes, Yale xtc plus for example, just the jacket provides its strength.
  11. Sorry, I haven't got any videos, but do you have workshop manual? I haven't done a complete strip down but have gone as far as crank seals, piston and cylinder etc. and I found it easy to follow. Stuart.
  12. Is that racist as well then? Sort of got the impression it wasn't.
  13. Just thought someone might like to know they don't need to spend any money at all getting this problem removed, as for 'buy a mac problem solved', three minutes of my time in three years or buy a £900 mac, don't think so.
  14. Thanks for the offer but it was sorted in a few minutes. As I said earlier this is the first malware/virus problem in over three years, no hardware problems for at least five years. Don't see how spending more money on a mac would help. Very few viruses out in the wild that affect Linux OS's but they will come as they are for mac: Mac Vulnerabilities Increase Five-Fold in 2010 / Infopackets.com
  15. The anti-virus I use is the free version of Avast. The first 'problem' in about 3 years, the computer is well used, and only took 3 minutes to sort out so I can live with that. Would switch to running Linux on PC before buying a mac as similar performance is way cheaper, I understand OSX can run on PCs but Linux is free.
  16. Hi all, Not sure if this is a new scam, I have seen a number of similar ones, but have just had this pop up on the screen: No, I wasn't looking at anything naughty or illegal, and yes anti virus was on and up to date. Computer freezes, can't see desktop, start programs or get task manager to run. Just had to start in safe mode, run msconfig and remove startup entry for 0.45707695585813735.exe (a random number as file name). Would be interesting to know how many people actually pay up when faced with a con like this.
  17. I know butter works very well for removing sap from ropes, not tried it on arms yet. I heard it's something to do with the fats in it.
  18. I use a Coleman feather 442, there is a slightly bigger version but I find this ample for a 2 liter kettle and the amount of unleaded petrol it uses is quite reasonable. Coleman Feather 442 | Camping Stoves | Live For The Outdoors I paid £40 for mine, new from an ex army store. Stuart.
  19. If I get the chance of any dead elm I do not hesitate to take it home, I find it burns well.
  20. I got a Biolux ng microscope with usb viewer off ebay, think I paid about £40. Seems good for the money. These are some pictures I took of bread mold, not sure of the magnification.
  21. These are cheap: Blackspur 12ft Wire Tow Rope only £16.28 with FREE Delivery* Not so sure about the strong part though, I know some people who have been issued very similar ropes to this with no thimbles in the eyes and no indication of strength on the hooks etc. Don't think I would use one. I was told static ropes such as dyneema were the safest as in the event of breakage they just fall to the ground because there is no stretch in them, not cheap though.
  22. I like these:- General use gloves from Showa The 310 and the 451 versions, a snug fit and last well. A chainsaw shop near me has the thermo ones for £4.75 + vat.
  23. My daily lenses are for astigmatism!
  24. I am short sighted and have nearly always worked out doors. For me changing to contact lenses was the best thing thing ever, especially in the rain. I used to have monthly disposables but after some problems with eye dryness, which I believe was caused by sawdust, I have changed to daily disposables and find them to be excellent. They are a little more expensive but well worth it. Stuart.
  25. I entered in the pole climb at the Norfolk game and country fair after after starting to do more climbing at work, didn't do well at all but now have some poles to practice on and will do better next year, will more than likely enter the work climb as well. Just have a go, it's the only way to get experience and once you have tried it you will know what you need to do to improve. Stuart.
