  1. Hi all, I have found a tipping site for wood chip at a riding stables between Cromer and Aylsham, after the first load they decided they would like to cover an area for the horses to jump on. They have quite a large area they would like to cover so if any one would like to tip there please pm me for details. The horses will not be left unattended in the area so conifer will be fine. Stuart.
  2. Hi, BTS, I work work for a contractor to EDF. A line code is just a number, e.g. L120, which identifies a section of line. Not the whole line, each line will be split into sections so a part can be identified easier. Stuart.
  3. Isn't it G55/2 now:sneaky2: But if you look on the NPTC website at UA1 that will show what is involved with working near power lines.
  4. Hi all, I have done a little climbing and spiking at work and would like to try pole climbing with the aim to enter next years East Anglian Game and Country Fair's climbing competitions and not embarrass myself. I live in Aldborough near Aylsham, Norfolk and wondered if any one out this way regularly meets up for a climb, either tree climbing or pole climbing. Stuart.
  5. I did the IPAF course about a year and a half ago and trees were only mentioned when he asked what job I did. It was purely the regulations regarding its use and teaching safe setup and use practices. Just had a quick look through the NPTC assessment schedule on their website and can't see any mention of trees either.
  6. Hi, Just got some armor prus and trying to find which splice to use. I have seen class 1 double braid used, locking brummel, and some mention class 2 double braid splice, (which I believe is what the rope requires as it is for core dependent ropes). If so should I be following the instructions on the samson site for class 2 double braid? A splice would look so much neater (and stronger) than the fishermans knots, so any help would be appreciated.
  7. Forgot to add, to un install, click on start, control panel, programs and features (if windows 7), find the program in the list then click on uninstall near the top.
  8. If your laptop is only a few weeks old I would assume you have windows 7. If so I would install Avast anti virus and windows defender for the spyware/malware, make sure windows defender is downloaded from the microsoft website, if not it may well cause a lot of problems. Also if you are using a broadband router I would not bother with a software firewall other than the windows one, as this will slow things down further. This is how I run my computer and have no problems at all.
  9. Don't know if there is one in this country, but what about one of these... Ditzj.de - Terex Demag AC500-2 - Arduino
  10. I have seen and removed one of these before, also a cat that had decided to walk on the top of a transformer, was the high voltage got him. I believe the bottom wire on lv is an earth, crossing any two would have had the same outcome though.
  11. I have a PDF parts list/exploded view for ms 200, if you would like to send me your email address.
  12. Well done!!! Passed mine a year ago, trying not to get too complacent/know it all, always something looking to catch you out! Do you know how the 'other lad' did?
  13. Now just finished these. This being third and fourth attempts. Just using home made wire fid made from 1mm fencing wire. It is high tensile wire and has not broken yet. Done a strength test on first attempt by tying bowline in the other end of the rope and pulling between two vehicles, the knot broke eventually. The smoothness of the cross over took some doing to get right, removed a little extra of the core, now a lot better.
  14. Slightly different look on things, but have now tried splicing 16 strand. The first attempt was tested to destruction by tying a bowline in the other end and pulling between two vehicles (the knot broke). When a bowline is tied in your rope are you seen as competent knot tyer by holding CS38, if so is the splice also adequate, fit for purpose. Sorry if butting in / not making sense have had one or two l**gers, (not splicing at the moment!).
  15. If you use a 25:1 mix there is less petrol in a given amount than in a 50:1 mix, therefore a saw will have less fuel, possibly run lean and could run hotter/cause damage.
  16. I managed to find a download via a torrent site for Stihl. however not all saws were included, others I needed were found by other means. (Probably shouldn't link to those kind of sites on here). But they are available and free if you know where to look.
  17. Used Avast for years with no problems, make sure firewall is always on, (found the one in XP and Windows 7 to work fine). If you are running windows I would recommend downloading Windows Defender, keeps out malware and the like which can get past a lot of anti virus programs.
  18. I'm now on my second pair of haix blue mountain. I found they last well, mainly ground work for the first pair. Also pretty comfortable from day one, both pairs, no painful breaking-in.
  19. I just wondered, mainly from the lighter weight on longer jobs perspective, hedges etc. obviously no cut and hold!!!
  20. Hi all, I have been told that I need to have CS39 to use a top handle chainsaw, all the info I can find, AFAG leaflets etc. say that they should only be used by 'trained arborists'. I do have CS30/31 and also CS47 (use of chainsaw from a mewp). So is it legal for me to use a top handle chainsaw from a mewp, or do I have to stay with the ground saw until I get CS39?
