  1. Hi Matthew, I am interested in the Arboricultural Operatives position. I have my CS30/31 and CS38 and I am currently down in Glasgow to do my CS39 course and test. I will be back up North on Thursday so will get my CV and covering letter to you then. I am registered self employed, I have all my own climbing kit (just been LOLER checked), my own saws and PPE. I also have a clean driving licence. Stevie
  2. No worries mate thanks for the thought anyway.
  3. As long as there PPE then its fine.
  4. Yeah I know am one of them. Am originally from Glasgow.
  5. I am traveling down to Glasgow at the weekend to start my CS39 course on the 24th. Now up until about 20mins ago I thought the 24th was Monday but apparently its Tuesday. So I am now at a lose end on Monday. So if anyone is wanting some free labor in or around the Glasgow area then I would be happy to come and get some experience and make some contacts in the Glasgow area. Cheers Stevie
  6. I had to drive home barefoot from a job I went to quote. Told the customer that the dog mess would need to be cleaned up before I would go anywhere near it. She said that it was a job she was just about to do (yeah right) and it would be done before the work started. She then offered me a stick to get the mess of my boots. Needless to say I never heard from her again. I took the power washer to get it off the boots.
  7. Chicken McNuggets for breakfast? Now thats a classy lady. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dh3s5Mp8-Nw]YouTube - ‪Lethal Weapon 2 - Leo Getz At the Drive Thru‬‎[/ame]

  9. Nice one mate. Am doing my CS39 course and test in a couple of weeks, well as long as more people confirm am the only one who has confirmed at the moment.
  10. Has to be Happy Gilmore for me. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LNFzc2YMMhI]YouTube - ‪Happy Gilmore - Intercom‬‎[/ame]
  11. Chuffed for you mate! Makes you remember that there are decent folk out there and not just detritus.
  12. ''Action has been taken to ensure that this could not happen again,'' Yeah by never employing imbeciles again!
  13. No thank you! Very happy with the service, will order again in the future. But thankfully the rest of my gear passed its LOLER check.
  14. Thanks for the offer mate bit I got sorted out with Clark. Anyway 8ft is a bit big for the size of tree I work on.
  15. Note sure yet will know fairly soon though.
  16. Hope the operation goes well for you and its not to serious. Hope you find someone.
  17. If your a bit rusty then surely your better off doing the third day yourself? I would rather have the cash in my pocket than in someone else who comes in and finishes my job for me. That just my opinion though Does your ground worker not need any time up a tree?
  18. I am going there on the 23rd of August to do my CS39 course and test and was just wondering if there is anyone else on arbtalk is going to be on the same course. Has anyone else done any courses there? I have also heard good things about Matthew Cooper as I believe he is taking the course.
  19. I've got my location and my web site which am going to get removed. Other than that all I can think of is investing in a good alarm. I live out in the country side but have about 5 neighbors close by and they are all retired couples so there's always someone around ( and their a wee bit noisy which has it good points and bad) Also the dog barks at anyone coming up the drive. My in laws live about 2 miles from me and they never lock their doors in fact they don't even know where the house keys are. My father in law also leaves his car keys in the car just in case "someone needs to borrow it" My heart sinks every time I see that someone else has had their gear nicked.
  20. Yeah the Collins tree guide and I've picked up random tree ID books in charity shops. Bob Watson Trees Their use, management, cultivation and biology is a great book. 21. Just a wee message to everyone that's going to the Arb & Forestry event this weekend. Hope you all have a great time and the weather is good for you all. I look forward to seeing the pictures. Is the show normally in the same location every year as am going to convince the wife that we should take a holiday down south next year which would conveniently coincide with next years event.
  22. I've have just been on your web site and seen: PLATINUM FLIP 3.0m (10') Steel Core Flip Line comes with Twister My current rope grab is on 13mm rope will it work on this flip line? Or can you do me a deal on the flip line [3.0m) and the ISC rope grab? Wasn't really looking to spend over £100 though. Yeah that be great If Blair can call me tomorrow 07813974531. I will be available all day tomorrow waiting on auto glass to come out and fix a crack on the windscreen. Cheers Stevie
  23. When I speak to a client about a job I tell them I will provide a written quote and If they agree to the job I will provide them with an agreement of work document. That just confirms what work will be carried out. But I don't go into the step by step details of how am going to do the job. Yes I tell the client that tree A will be felled and tree B will be sectioned but if the job specs change on the day I try and let the customer know. But I've not had any dealing with big company's though.
