  1. Was looking through the yellow pages today for someone to come and empty my septic tank and i had a wee gander at the tree work section. One advert had a picture of a guy working in a tree using a top handle saw and he was not wearing a helmet, ear defenders of visor! Personally If I was looking for a tree surgeon in the yellow pages I would question how professional this company was. Not the cleverest was to promote your business.
  2. You would think the Germans would have a more efficient way of hammering in a nail!
  3. Don't rush things! When your performing the aerial rescue make sure you don't put yourself in a position where you will pendulum swing. If you think you've mess up on something say to the instructor and he/she should let you try it again.
  4. I've always used a 15" bar with my 346xp. That has done me fine for all my work. If in the future you need to move up to a bigger bar I would look at getting a bigger saw. I've not used a 18" bar on my 346 but am sure it would struggle especially after 2 years of use.
  5. For got to say the 346xp is a great saw for starters. Thats what I use and its served me well.

  7. Are they really seasoned? You say they have been on the yard for 6 months +! I wouldn't class them as seasoned, especially the poplar and willow and the conifers! But I may be wrong!
  8. My interests also include spending time with my family, bird watching and music kayaking Music Kayaking?
  9. Looks like a good job for the right person! Experience of water crafts intrigues me.
  10. From the picture I would recon if the large limb to the left and the two smaller limbs to the right are removed it should look reasonably balanced.
  11. Nice! My question is, when does the wife start to worry about how many axes you own? I have 8 and am still looking for more.
  12. Yeah its a bit odd but I suppose thats LA's for you. I heard the other day that a company from the Isle of Skye has got the contract to do tree work for Inverness council thats around trip of about 230 miles. Looks like a nice tree to climb though.
  13. Very subtle job Rob. What was the reason for the reduction?
  14. I really should read the whole thread before I make a joke thats already been made!
  15. You got that wrong timberbear! His name is Phil McCracken!

  21. Monkey-D We have a healthy amount of bats flying around my house during the summer months and I've always wondered where they roost. We have a big old Oak tree in the garden that is missing a good chunk of bark with a crack running up it, the split is about 1cm wide. Do you think there is a good chance they are roosting in the Oak? Whats the best way for me to check as I need to remove some damaged branches for the tree and I wouldn't want to disturb them. Cheers Stevie
  22. When I done my chainsaw course a boy on that was sharpening his chain like the one in the first picture! He also thought that the foam ear defender dispenser was a sweetie machine! Flooded his chainsaw! Started walking towards my hung up tree but couldn't hear me shouting at him because he still had ear defenders down! Needless to say he didn't pass the course.
  23. I think its because the tree are mainly on slopes. But I could be wrong.
