  1. today we left the yard @ 08.00, returned after work @ 15.00 hrs to find, every lorry, tractor & machine has had its battery stolen, 15 batterys in total, most clamped down...... the only access is a good 50 yard walk to the footpath, in broad daylight!! we had to move some stuff to get out so we are certain this was done after we left, just shows, it doesnt always happen in the dark
  2. if it is a small split you will need to spend a long time with brake/carb cleaner to get rid of the oil, by far the best plastic glue i have used is made by a company called innotec, its an amazing 2k glue but its coupled with some good marketing, specialist applicator guns/ nozzles etc, too much money for a one off job!! a lot off garages/bodyshops use them thou, maybe worth a try asking around them
  3. i may be wrong but the minute it's heated it changes its temper.../ hardness its the cooling process that you add carbon to the steel etc etc, ??
  4. hmmmm. perhaps i should begin to get enthusiastic again...... i processed about 1 cubic metre before arriving back at the pub today..... just in time for opening!!!!
  5. i may of mis-read the post.... when the chain is nearly done it's then used on muddy firewood, roots, pallets etc, then its sent to china!!
  6. i recycle every piece of metal i can, at the prices they are paying would be silly not too!!!!!!
  7. but in 5 mins, ive eaten a cheese roll, swapped chains, re-fuelled an cracked on with more work........... we all use methods that work best for ourselves..... that mrs miggins.. she owes me a tenner, can you grab it for me next time your there please!!!!!!!!!!
  8. im fast & proficient at sharpening my chain, i am not however fast nor proficient at re-profiling a damaged chain, my working day simply is too busy, i carry spare chains for the times when a chain gets damaged, i admire your skill & patience in hand sharpening, it does for sure give maximum chain life.. & some gratification to the owner!.. i was just trying to get everyone to see that both ways have their advantages.......... & some disadvantages!!!!!!!!
  9. maybe you can conclude this discussion by agreeing??... every tool has its merits & downfalls, sharpening by file, on site by somebody who has half an idea - all good commercial repair shop who is given a chain to sharpen, grinder - all day long im fairly good at sharpening my chains, but if i hit a nail etc.. especially with a newish chain i will get it re-ground if i dont hit any debris i will use a file for the entire chain's life! although some people can use a file to sharpen, there is loads of people that cant, let them get there chains ground...... is it really worth this much discussion
  10. ive gone balls out an plumbed in a household sarnie toaster to the generator..... loverly jubberly!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. ermmmm, i have had a beer but......... 'dont read my writing'............. im lost :confused1:
  12. hope this link works.... if not search for plants that go bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. 'if your quick with your hands you should be fine'.......... best description of a cone/screw splitter ive ever seen...............!!!!!! they are horrendous things to use!!!!!!
  14. your right, todays metal is rubbish, it shears like you wouldnt believe, we see more failures than ever due to crap metal, i think it's down to the amount of recycled iron thou, some batches we get in seems to have the right ingrediants, it cuts nicely, it welds nicely, the next delivery can be the opposite, soft horrible stuff that you could almost solder rather than weld!!!!!
  15. metal fatigue, is very difficult to spot, especially on cast. it usually gives way under a load without any noticable cracks, another reason to never ever work under anything suspended by a crane, hiab, 360, etc, any inspection is usually visual & will not show 'stressed' regions keep a safe distance & stay safe.
  16. thats def not transit running gear...... fuel tank, shape of chassis around rear axle, engine etc etc!!!
  17. reminds me of my 'misplaced' youth!!!!!!!!! cracking!!!!!!!!!
  18. lol, it doesnt get better mate, my 'lil' sis is 29 an moans like hell about everything.... including my cooking!!!!!!!
  19. treebloke, i understand what your saying, however, company house will charge a subscription, to confirm the obvious, the company has no money... that is if they have even filed their accounts. small claims.. you have won three times, but not been paid?? judgement is meaningless to a skint company or person!!
  20. the fenced off site would need to be 'open' when you got there damn kids vandalise anything these days!!
  21. they are probably hoping you will back down with all the court talk...... have you spoken to citizens advice?? might be worth a visit to confirm your legal status, personally i dont think they have a foot to stand on, they are using scare-mongering tactics, for good measure i would also take possesion of something that belongs to the company, inform the police immediatly that the item is in your custody & you are holding it against a bad debt, most forces will treat this as a civil matter, you do need to inform the police before it is reported stolen, this is a 'grey' area in the eyes of the law but i have done it & would not hessitate to do it again!! hope it works out for you
  22. its rare but, ive had coils & h.t. leads begin to break down as they get hot, ive also had some coils that work intermittantly. a lot of people seem to believe a coil works or doesnt work, no middle ground... electrics, electronics or mechanical it can all fail, hope you find the cause of your problems fella
  23. the vented bags i tried fall apart in the sunshine mate, ive only tried one type & wasnt too impressed!!!!! im sure someone will have a better idea with which ones are best to use!!
  24. my fingers have only ever gone parallel to my palms, did yours used to further back?? my wrist's ache lots, part of getting older i guess.... how old are you mate ?
  25. i guess it comes down to talent vs breasts........... one clear winner!!! sadly none of the big singers/groups can actually sing or perform anymore, they just need to look good to get peoples attention!!
