  1. i find it very re-assuring that the local councils shy away from the pumps that most tax-payers have to use, in order to............ hmm pay more tax??????????
  2. egr valves etc etc all needed for new vehicles to reach emmisions requirements, clearly they are not good, i have a 205d which is on veg oil, but ive put a fuel heater in-line, makes loads of difference ive found!!!! cracking little engine!!
  3. it is hard sometimes to understand how people lose control, but they do, as you say with fatal consequences sometimes, txting, phonecalls, general driver error, im not condoning speeding but pointing out its not just speeding that causes accidents, skid control & the ability to change a flat tyre should be introduced to the driving test!!!!!
  4. lets not forget there is probably well over ten times the amount of cars on the road since then!!!!
  5. im not disagreeing with there views at all, i like loopholes, thats all!!!!!
  6. i think it is one night in every 4 weeks the vehicle has to be kept at op centre, a customer of mine had 7 vehicles, lost his o licence through bankruptcy whilst getting divorced!!! he carried on running them by adding the vehicles to another o licence, put some signwriting on the door stating 'operated by ********' vosa had a pull car outside his gates checking tachos one day!! im sure they where parked at the 'other yard' once a month, his daughter eventually passes her cpc so all well an good!! agree with the first inspection within a year, everyone gets that as you rightly said, 1st time annual passes an no probs at roadside checks keeps them happy, peter is your iveco on drums at rear with rockwell axle?? if it is ive got a new brake adjuster if yours ever seizes!! something to keep in mind!!!!
  7. im not sure on this, the vehicle doesnt have to return to its operating centre daily, im sure it needs to parked at the op centre periodically, ill look into this, on a different note, those using ivecos, genuine parts available at good discounts from zepplin trading 01923 840154, & phillips commercials 024 7637 1617 !!
  8. every year we see lots of new 'firewood suppliers' it is an easy earner after all !!!!! im probably in the higher price range, logging is hard graft, you need a yard of somesort , etc, etc, it has to be treated as a business..... or a tax loss!!!!!!! i dont mind if i dont sell all mine this year, i wont have to split so much to get next years stock ready!!!!!
  9. you are right, 814 & atego both suffer with this, the split washer is a spring washer & needs replacing as soon as it has no spring left!!!! the wheels also need to fit reasonably tightly on the hub, (hubcentric fit) the hub will of worn over the years, ive built up the hubs using a mig welder, make sure your not using worn rims when this repair is carried out though!! with regards to this not being noticed an an r&m inspection, the inner wheel, if worn will move slightly whilst the outer wheel appears tight, over time it gets worse, unlikely a driver will notice this until its to late, vosa find these easy pickings as the split washer doesnt close completly if they are rusted slightly, PG9 for insecure wheel nuts evan thou they may well be torqued up correctly, the spring washers for the wheels are very cheap, replace any worn studs an check the wheel nuts, they do wear out!! hope you get it all sorted
  10. £60 for 800x800x800 bag £90 for 900x900x900, nice seasoned oak
  11. difficult to say without looking mate, under no load does the ram operate at the same speed??? im not familier with the machine but can you take the pins out of the ram & check the plates/splitter moves freely?? any binding will make the ram appear 'weak', this may get worse as it gets hotter, hyd oil gets thinner, damaged binding metal getting hotter will cause it to expand slightly, id check the simple bits first mate, let us know
  12. my 61 is 1982, still use it regularly for logging
  13. i would try doubling up the pallets on the floor and dont stack to high until you really need too, dont know if it would help but you could lean some pallets against the walls as well, i wouldnt think a big fan would be neccasary unless your barn is completely air tight??
  14. did you find that before you drained/cleaned & refilled the hydraulics?? !!!!!!
  15. am i right in thinking 272 was a later version of the 61?
  16. or a gauze filter in the resevoir with some cr** around it??
  17. great work jimmy, it's good to see new carvers, what area are you from mate?
  18. very neat job mate, especially with a stick welder!! keep a close eye for any cracks that may appear, did you use mild steel rods?? im glad to see there is still some old school 'young un's' about!!
  19. great link, quite impressive what a proper saw will take! love the lab... imagine what you could do to the in-laws!!!! i wonder.. how many kg's of static weight does it take to remove an average big toe nail!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. i think in most trades the small companies / 1,2 or 3 men teams usually have a few local 'allies' it sure makes life easier when u need an extra pair of hands on a local job, we often trade a day's labour at cost!! obviously you cant get on with everyone like this!!! has anyone else turned up to give a quote whilst another firm is already/still on site doing the same??
  21. DOH!!!! just added postcode!!!!!
  22. do you have any footage of your horses working on utube at all?? its great to see people with working horses
  23. all looking good mate, im sure it will work well once established
  24. trouble is, from what i can see, people who have got some nice wood, suitable for turning etc, either want stupid money for it or advertise it 'asking for offers' ...... there has been some burrs etc that have come along with the seller asking for offers.. as a buyer, im not interested in making offers, after all, im the buyer; not the seller!!!! if your selling wood advertise it with a price, negotiate/haggle from there, if your asking for offers dont be upset when turners/carvers offer you beer money, if it was that easy to turn the wood into a big profit everybody would be turning!!!!!!!!!!!!!
