  10. on big trees or really sparse trees i will throw a line up the top but i will still stick the ladder up the first 30ft 90% the time i just stick the ladder up and climb to the top because there rarely big trees really
  11. ive always been a ladder man from college we even used one of them old massive wooden ladders you extend it with pulling ropes etc why pull your self up so easy walk up a ladder
  12. Couple from the planting again we finished today took couple pics this knarly beech tree i had seen in distance but didnt look up close at it till today completely hollow inside the butress roots on the other side of the tree really cool tree
  13. could be old fuel, when was the last time you ran it. check the pipe under the air filter houseing them black rubber pipes are well known for splitting. if not then i would go with a new carb theory.
  14. Couldnt say it better mark, them swing cheeks can take a right battering good pulleys hardly ever get the big cast pulleys out
  15. 1 pic of plantation im working on again after 4/5 days we have got this far only tubing the broadleafs though, then a couple from todays view from a nice mac by the seaside
  16. Really good vid i enjoyed that. Always thought about doing a reduction vid but i thought would be boring that vid was really good though good choice of music fitted well.
  17. you will be better off thinning the crown rather than a crown reduction if light is the issue.
  18. you will have to wait till they are renewing the tree surgery contracts or have another contract opening they will post it on there website usually then you have to email them saying your interested in tendering etc they will send you a whole bunch of attachments of forms to fill in saying who you are what your qualifications are then about your business they will want to see your accounts etc from the last 2 years they want sites they can visit to check certain works like crown reductions crown thinning etc loads of paper work and you will need to obviously visit the sites they want done and quote the whole lot in one price. difficult to get on the first rung of the ladder as im finding out. good luck with it
  19. they are some hefty limbs they look alot smaller in the pics though, in the flesh they are big lumps.
  20. last time i had a driver who had never done tree work with cranes before. i think im just being paranoid its one of these jobs that has been in back of my mind worrying about it. it should be fine i cant see them limbs weighing more than 3 tons apart from the big lower 1 on the left maybe but then thats closer to the crane so will be able to lift more. only thing i need to watch is what i sling into making sure its solid.
  21. yer i always hate horsechestnut even when there alive they just stand and rot! i dont no if i would get away with working off the hook, the crane company are really hot on it, wouldnt let me hang off it last time. unfortunatly but it depends what driver you get its a lottary really.
  22. yep they do but its abit late once youve cut off over it can lift
  23. it had been dead long before i quoted for it a year ago it has more fungus on it than bark i think its coated in brackets im talking prob just under 100 brackets in the tree its crazy dead. hope it doesnt snap anchors for the slings!
