oh! i like the look of that! i don't care what it performs like
  3. Here's my girlfriends effort
  4. nice video mate the housing estate looks very much like an american suburb.
  5. a subby we use brings his 372 with 24" bar for bigger jobs. a pleasure to use! loads of torque and quick pickup. in fact i prefer it to the ms441, even though i'm a bit biased towards stihl. it feels like it has just as much grunt as our 046, despite a lower engine size and hp. when i'm eventually working for myself it will be one of the first saws i will get
  6. buy new mate - you'll get warranty, after sales support etc. i went to my local dealer last year to get a 200t, they said the best they could do was £480, then i showed them the price fr jones were selling them at and he got within a tenner of it! i think it was £426 at fr jones and i got one for £435. you won't be able to buy a new saw without being there to collect it, as per stihl's postage policy.
  7. wow! simply amazing. you have a great imagination, which i think is just as important as the pure skill.
  8. very entertaining video as per usual, but i have to ask.... do you price in a cameraman to the cost of the job? or does he actually work in between the branches coming down??
  9. You could use that to your advantage! Every job you get with lots of timber, and the customer wants it taken away, get them to do the work and you keep the money!
  10. To answer the original question, Medium is what you need (+7cm if they are over 6 foot). I am 34 and medium is a nice fit.
  11. got any bigger pics?
  12. errrm.... ???
  13. port the exhaust. do a search on google or here... and by mixture i presume you mean 2 stroke/fuel? well, it's 1:50 so, 100ml of 2stroke in a 5l combi can of unleaded....
  14. another thread - http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/maintenance-help/19047-prochip-shut.html
  15. i'm already too co-ordinated with the stretch air suit (minus the boxer shorts )
  16. Pics from yesterday (really really cold). EDF shut down the power in the morning, got the whole lot done by 2.15pm, probably due to the cold - it made us work faster!! First time i have used a big(ish) saw climbing (046, 25"bar).
  17. Here's the actual article in the paper yesterday.....
  18. Hi andy, i would certainly snap this up if i weren't in full time employment - it might be worth sticking an add in the bury free press job section. You'll certainly get some idiots call up but i'm sure you'll find someone suitable from it.
  19. An article about his volcano trip - didn't expect to see it in t'sun! will put up pics later here's the web link..... Kiwi thrill-seeker abseils 500 metres into live volcano | The Sun |News
  20. hehe - exactlywhat i was thinking i'm imagining our transit with logs loaded right to the top and back of the greedy boards...
  21. That was my initial thought. I take it species are much the same in france....?
  22. My Mum took this in The Dordogne, France Any ideas on the tree species?
  23. One last tip for now.... BUY A GOLLIAPOD. Gorillapod - The Flexible Tripod by Joby They are essential bits of kit. Especially in the dark woods, when a slower shutter speed may be needed. Here is a advert that demonstrates how good it would be in a woodland environment....
  24. ah, i forgot about tree houses... perfectly justified reason for nails i think. in fact i may have contradicted myself, i probably helped build the tree house at our old house. anyway, only a small fraction of nails are put in for tree houses so i stand by my initial sentiment (mostly)
  25. you can usually only buy lengths in 1m increments and i always order 3m to make 2 lengths. usually 1.5m for climbing line and 1m for strop. everyone's different though so experiment....
