  1. Yes thanks, Sloth on here posted some out to me, but cheers for the offer:thumbup:
  2. Is there two beeches? Thought there was only one The pholiota is a white rotter which can lead to hollowing and possibly in the long term, failure so you would need to investigate the condition of the roots, saying that though trees can live with P. squarrosa for a long time by adaptive growth (i think buttressing is a body language feature of this??) so IMO and my opinion alone:biggrin: beeches can adequately cope with this loss of stiffness and hollowing As for the Merip, as i said long term future is bleak but the tree could be managed if the client was willing, looks like a large tree and as its a photo i can't see an hazards around. Careful investigation of he roots should be a regular occurence if retaining as trees can uproot quite easily with Merip. Again, these are just my opinions and i can't assess and diagnose 100% from photos or say reliably do this/do that Plus there are many other people on here who would be able to give a more detailed breakdown of the effects of these fungus, the body language of adaptation, and prognosis:thumbup:
  3. Cheers:thumbup1:
  4. I would say that is a degraded M. g. fruit body yes Long term future with Merip doesn't look good but i suppose it is all dependant on how much the client is willing to spend on a tree with a diagnosis such as this Do you know what the crown form was like at all?
  5. I'll do it straight away now, thanks Paul:thumbup:
  6. Double bubble bump:001_cool:

  15. I like a good debate as much as the next person and some of the posts in this one inparticular, from both sides, has been very informative and enlightening.. Just felt it was going too much off track and when people spoon or pigeon hole the rotten minority into or with the majority, i think IMO, and i am allowed one, that it is going to rile people and the thread will lose more than just its direction:001_smile: So, back to jezza:biggrin:
  16. thats the plan:thumbup: Thanks woodpicker
  17. Found out today that me and two other agency workers are being made redundant as there is no more money left in the pot. Its a temporary lay off for 6 weeks but i reckon its permanent as they already lost a big part of the work contract earlier this year, so thats me out of work for christmas:sad: (got my one weeks notice though) Unless... Is there anybody out there taking on at the moment? I feel its time for a change of direction and want to put some of this knowledge gained doing my FdSc to good use. So, would anybody be willing to take on/show the ropes/give a chance in Tree inspecting/surveying/consulting/ecology/conservation or the like. Need the experience and need to start somewhere, when one door closes another one opens:biggrin: Will work all over the North West and i'd travel further if the opportunity was right, my kids are still young and i would possibly consider eventual relocation if i can persuade my better half. I would be grateful for any opportunity Failing that does anybody need a hand on odd jobs at all, Ive got 30,31,38,39, chipper, and first aid, 3 years solid climbing a further 2 previous part time Cheers everyone:001_cool:
  18. Agreed, this thread had quite a lot of what I would consider to be flaming, distracting from the original question of whether jeremy clarkson should go or not... I'm sick of "all" local authority tree workers getting a bad name and being called lazy just because of a few of the older (and some of the newer) generation are!! We are not all the same and some of us do work very hard in horrible conditions! So unless you've got something to say about jezza, keep your opinions to yourself or at least start a relevant thread So in regards to the OP, I think he should stay... It was tongue in cheek and he's apologised Fair enough it wasn't the most appropriate thing to joke about but some people need to lighten up! Sent from Rob's GalaxySII
  19. Agreed, I work for a legal authority albeit as agency staff and there are quite a few who are lazy and aren't bothered about the job... But... The are the exception not the rule and I am definitely not one of them, I work hard whoever I work for, public, private or myself So please don't put all us "council workers" in the same can't be arsed and lazy as sin bracket:sneaky2: Sent from Rob's GalaxySII
  20. To be honest i quite enjoyed motorway clearance, and especially the night shifts too, didn't think it was hard at all:confused1: I'd have to agree on people/customers being the hardest aspect of arb:001_tt2:
  21. nice shape but those 3-4 top or "heading" cuts on the bigger stuff in the middle are going to go epi mad next year
  22. I'll try that ta:thumbup:
  23. why can't we all be happy and live in a eutopia?
  24. isnt 3% of 45 years 15 years not 20:confused1:
