  1. Im not sure if you are referring to me with your comment ragrding flippancy Tony, but in case you are, then I have tpo say I couldnt agree with you more. Unfortunately I find the hypocrisy of arborists and self proclaimed tree care officionados who then boast about having forcibly removed road protesters as abhorrent. There was a thread quite a while back where more than one member pretty much boasted about the eviction of these people, who in that thread were denegrated, referred to in all levels of derogation and generally portrayed as scum of the earth. I find this Thatcherite, luddite and wholly short-sighted attitude stomach turning, and USUALLY portrayed by ignorant bigots, who are little above the intellectual level and psycological prowess of pond scum. I am sorry to have derailed your thread in this manner, but my feelings on this are possibly as strong as your feelings (which i share to a large degree, as, i am sure, do others) on the issue raised in this thread. I will not mention it again, as i think my feelings are now fully evident.
  2. Yes but the flipside of that argument is also that we are constantly told that we need this stuff by those that make these products. There are a gazillio products out there that are unnecessary, but a manufacturer will tell us its the next top thing to have to have, and sometimes even stop selling the existing model so that we have no choice but to buy the so-called improved version......eg the ms362 chainsaw etc etc. The cynic in me wonders for whose benefit this R&D is actually carried out:sneaky2:
  3. Nice bench Stu. Did the bullocks use it?
  4. This is exactly my point...a MASSIVE reinvestment is required, and a downturn in the reign of the car. Open up all these local stations again, improve the local bus services, and increase railfreight. It is sooo much more ecenomical.
  5. A reinvestment in the railways would be an excellent idea. Dr Beeching was a knob. It would save a whole load of environmental Issues......just unfortunate that the planned route involves a load of ancient woodland.
  6. Hahahahaha....you're wrong there...it DID, but i sorted it.
  7. YOu should get a bit more landy than that, but yes, they do hld their value. Unless you really need 4x4 then get something cheaper. If you need the best 4x4 performance in the weight bracket, then its your only choice. BTW mine is a 1995 300tdi. It doesnt leak oil, and it doesn't let water in either.
  8. It is good firewood, but you musn't start reducing the price for taking the logs away- explain to him that there is no money to be made from tree surgery arisings....certainly not what it would cost you to remove the wood, store, split and deliver it.
  9. That is terrible. 'Not life changing'??????? WTF???? Poor guy. Cities.......terrible places.
  10. Yellow aint too bad once it gets dirty....
  11. You could try here..... http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/employment/26680-help-needed-cheltenham.html
  12. Well done guys. Its a lovely thing Rupe! Billy- I dont have a large impact block so cant comment lol!
  13. I wonder if there will be a thread on arbtalk in the future about a bunch of hairy tree hugging great unwashed digging themselves into the ground and trashing diggers in attempts to stop this rail link, and how many (if any) members will proudly condemn the same people and happily explain how they helped to get these scum out of the way of progress......
  14. Ring the police and INSIST that they do something about it. A customer of mine had a load returned after the police were given the numberplate of the thiefs car.
  15. :001_cool:Not a problem TCD, its certainly not your fault that i dont like it....you KNOW that what i replaced that saw with was NEVER going to live up to it:blushing:
  16. Used them for ages. They are chunky, but offer loads of support and are pretty much bombproof.....I MIGHT have one for sale in good condition at the right price.....
  17. He was the pizza delivery guy from dominoes!!!!
  18. Sent this email this morning.. If you've ever worked for a boss who reacts before getting > the facts and thinking things through, you will love this! > > Feeling it was time for a shakeup, the company hired a new CEO. > > The new boss was determined to rid the company of all slackers. > > On a tour of the facilities, the CEO noticed a guy leaning against a > wall. > The room was full of workers and he wanted to let them know that > he meant business. > > He asked the guy, "How much money do you make a week?" > > A little surprised, the young man looked at him and said, > "I make $400 a week. Why?" > > The CEO said, "Wait right here." He walked back to his office, > came back in two minutes, and handed the guy $1,600 in cash > and said, "Here's four weeks' pay... > > Now GET OUT and don't come back." > > Feeling pretty good about himself, the CEO looked around the room > and asked, "Does anyone want to tell me what that goof-ball did here?"
  19. Bad news. Sorry to hear of yet another one.
  20. You must have had cooling issues David, as i tow a 2 tonne chipper and chip box full, in all weighing easily 7 tonne all day with a board infront of my rad to give me winter heat that i dont bother removing except in the summer, never had a problem. I regularly tow my ifor way overloaded, plenty of distance too with no problems. I think the moral of the story coud be to ensure one's cooling system/ water pump is clean and fully functioning. Landrovers were designed to work in desert heat! I believe that the transfer from a disco is only different in the low ratio too, but i might be mistaken there. If loaded correctly and the brakes are working properly on the trailer, this wont be an issue, even if overloaded.
