    Poppies

    Beautiful pics mate.
  3. You have a serious problem with perception, both of what others are saying, and of what others think of you. I also think that you have undermined any level of respect for yourself by that rather inane and immature final comment. My comments about experience are NOTHING to do with flexing muscles, ganging up on you, impressing anybody or anything else. It had got to the stage in the discussion that nothing anybody said that you did not agree with was seen by you as anything but getting at you. I was only using those terms in order that you may have understood why people were disagreeing with your ungrounded belief that an hours chipping is only worth £50. And where do you get off, with zero practical knowledge of the subject, accusing those with knowledge of it, of talking BS. This is a discussion forum. Just because no-one has jumped at the chance of doing your job you say their comments are BS!!! Grow up.
  4. Being as you are (i guess) a farmer......I would think that you have a choice of vauxhall or land rover...what with buying british and all that.....
  5. Is this a wind up......... We are not ganging up on you. You just need to see that 1 hours chipping is worth more than £50:001_rolleyes:
  6. Ironjack- you strike me as a most awkward person. I am sorry that you see a discussion as being patronising to you and you feel that everyone is getting at you. I also feel that you re being rather presumtious. Rupe and others among us have many many years experience in this business, you have none. You haven't even got any experience of commercial chippers. You havent quantified how much brash there is by putting up a picture, and your (admitted) lack of experience means that we are unable to take your word on the volume of material, as those of us with alot of experience also have the experience to know that this stuff is almost universally underestimated. From this thread you have decided that we are al getting at you and trying to gainsay you (Especially, it seems, Rupe- a VERY experienced arborist). perhaps you should look at the replies you seem to have taken offense at as a way of expanding your knowledge. We have put these replies forward with the backing of years of running and paying for this kit, without the help of a forum and the wealth of experience it brings- i.e. we have learnt from mistakes. You would do well to take this on board and you may save yourself time and expense in the future when it comes to pricing jobs. Or am i having a go at you???????
  7. That is way over the top. I am speechless TBH!!
  8. Redruth. I daont need anyone at the mo, I have a good groundy and quite a bit of my work is climbing for someone else, but if I hear of owt i can give them your number etc. or if i need another pair of hands then I have your details.
  9. Ironjack- you want someone to leave their house, check that the machine is greased, fuelled, ready for work, hitch it up, drive to the site, set up (including the hellos and deciding where to park etc etc) do the job, drive back and tip, or even go via their yard or tip site if that isnt home, get back and un hitch and get ready for the next job with the machine .....yet you maintain its an hours work? Even if the job was 3 miles down the road it is more than an hours work. If the brash is all neatly stacked i can fill my truck with about 3 cubic metre if brash in about 25 minutes....so your hours worth of chipping would necessitate leaving site to empty the truck during that hour too.....involving unhitching, more diesel... blah blah blah.....do you begin to see why that £50 is beginning to be a long way off realistic and that we arent being greedy?
  10. You sure you are tying it right??????
  11. Termination knot in one end of the climbing line- ise a |VT once in the tree and a bowline and prussik to access the tree. Running bowline used aplenty in rigging apps.
  12. The 8mm liros really isnt suitable for this knot on a marlow split tail or a yale split tail as a lanyard/ side strop. It just binds up too much.
  13. I made 9 cube of chip today.
  14. Thats nasty. So...is that a pic of you? Did your mate have his shins split? Did the pulley get stuck in your throat? Sorry- i am not sure i understand your post.
  15. Heres a good weight carrier if you dont need 4x4:http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/trading-place/30982-cabstar-tipper-chip-truck.html
  16. You are up against the age old problem of arb waste- there are few vehicles that wont be legally over their limit when full. If you are doing urban work then the cabstar is a very good choice. If you have a tracked machine then put it on an ifor or atlas tipper with caged sides. Tow that with the defender and leave it on site until the end of the day when you have emptied the trailer.
  17. I have a roofrack on the cab. You can just about see stuff in this pic......taken OFF road:sneaky2:
  18. Adam is correct. I havent had an issue in 8 years though. When, and if, i get stopped, I will address the issues that they warn me about on the side of the road.
  19. Like has been said- chill out. Your child would have soon gone to sleep. The best thing you could have done was let your 2 year old go to sleep getting used to the noise. My son slept through everything and still does at the age of ten, even a smoke detector going off outside his bedroom door. If you creep around your house and make sure everything is mega silent the moment your child goes to bed at night for fear of he/ she waking up or not going to sleep, then noise will always be a problem and the child will rule YOUR life in tghe evening when it should be asleep. Get it used to noise from day one. I had my 30th birthday party with a 3k sound system under his bedroom window and he slept through it.
  20. It holds just over 3.25 cubic metres when rammed. My truck is so mechanically good its like a new one. The 300 has been rebuilt. I have a 935i chipper, and often has all my kit on the roof too. I live in cornwall so its no stranger to hills. On a very steep hill i may have to get down to 2nd but very very rarely 1st gear. If you want speed you have to sacrifice working ability and carrying capacity and towing capacity....and not have a landrover. Fuel consumption is horrendous mind you. 15- 16 mpg when draging up a hill loaded right up?
  21. This cost me about £350 all in, and about 3 nights of work......Had it for about 8 years now, the top half was ply for ages, only put the ali on last year. That was £90 of the £350 BTW.
