  1. You're still a cretin, and welcome to it, i think its turkey oak looking at how much sap there is on it.
  2. You are a cretin, and putting the shed up on your own...........
  3. Having spent hours and hours sat on plant, i would say with confidence that there is no comparison mate.....bobcat are budget crap, and takeuchi are jap brilliance.
  4. I am sorry that i cant reply to your thread with a sale mate, but i would like to say what a fantastic looking rig you are running there. I take it you adapted the artic trailer to a timber unit ?, and what hp is your deere- about 190? My neighbour (our yards are pretty much one and the same) runs a 1950 with quicke, a 6400 on the cauli rig, a 6920 with a huge loader and a 6920s. Really nice gear. Sorry for the derail BTW:blushing:
  5. I know the feeling well my friend.
  6. Bring back wolves. And put venison back on the plate again.
  7. Great bit of kit the Lucas mill. I was very close to getting one when i bought my bandmill, but at the time i was milling mostly waney edged wide hardwood boards. I am nowadays doing a lot of softwoods into construction timbers, so other than the slightly fatter kerf of the circ saw blade, it would be a perfect mill.
  8. He he- well spotted. It is a quote from Bladerunner, its what Batty (one of the replicants) says just before he dies. Top film eh? The best bit of the Brazil story is that my mate said he was a 'bit green' and when he pointed out the danger they laughed at him!
  9. Both of these points are absoloutely true.
  10. I think that it is wortrh pointing out that sawdust is based up in the lakes, which if it is anything like down here, all timber has a value, whereas (and im guessing here) in surrey people have central heating and just want the wood gone from there manicured gardens, seeing it as a burden. It is very difficult to charge to remove timber from tha majority of jobs down here, and in fact on most jobs i dont get to remove any at all.
  11. I find it hard to understand how you cannot get parts for older stihl saws. Also, if you have just got rid of an old 020 because you are finding it hard to get parts, why on earth are you considering buying another old saw to replace it with? It seems nonsensical, as by your reckoning if anything goes wrong with it you will be stuck for parts:confused1: I have had 2 200s since they changed over, and had no problems with them at all. Before that i had 2 second hand 020's (i wasnt climbing very much in them days) which both had loads of little issues due to the age of them, even though they both seemed immaculate...And at around £400 for a new saw i cant see its worth getting a second hand potential PITA. But thats just a confused opinion:lol:
  12. Flippin Brilliant Tristan. Love those pics. Really makes me want to go away again. Reminds me of a tale my mate told me from when he worked in a Brazilian ship yard, where the locals were using saws with 3' bars on them, the chain so loose you could get your arm between it and the bar almost, wearing flip flops and shorts. On pointing out the danger my mate was informed "you cant cut round corners unles you have the chain that loose...."
  13. You would do alot worse than this one...Unimog U1650 with Hiab 125 - Arbtalk Classifieds
  14. Love the way that whoever has put the vid on youtube has mis-spelt the word rogue, using the french word for 'red' instead....
  15. :congrats: I cant wait until Stihl get some serious knocking off their high horse.......
  16. I was telinng the garden mach shop down the road that i wished i had a honda v twin not the b&s that i have got on the sawmill, and he reckoned that the hondas had become really awkward about the fuel that they burn. Is your fuel system SPOTLESS and filters like new etc etc?
  17. Ash is fetching premium money down here for saw logs......
  18. Admit your mistake as you did and be honest is always the best option mate. Keep them in the loop at all times and be open with them. If they are decent people they will understand and appreciate your honesty, and you may have to be a bit more detailed in the quote as for what you are charging them for, so they feel you are being transparent with them and not out to make a post christmas fast buck....Good luck.
  19. olly was going on about that yesterday. It is apparently quite common.
  20. The root ball on walnut is generally pretty prized Mick.
  21. I have often found white charred/ ash woodchip in the middle of the pile when i get rid of it. There is about 20m3 in that heap- its getting moved at the weeknd to make way for a lorry load of sawlogs as my usual storage area for them is now a swamp after so much rain and running in and out with the tractor to get wood and silage. Had a four wheel drive tractor stuck last week, so better not send an eight wheeler in there....
  22. i can play the piano piano piano pia pia piano pia piano.....
