  1. Ali geckos and i wear protector pros. Great spikes- forget you have them on.
  2. I have been approaching other tree surgeons for years with offers of firewood prices to take sawlogs away, and almost 99% of them say yes then you never hear from them again. I understand it totally (doing tree surgery as well as milling) as for most jobs the customer just wants the tree and mess gone asap, and it isnt always convenient to get a sawyer in at the point when the timber is on the ground to have him say 'i will be back tomorrow/ next week to pick it up' etc.
  3. Ask me next time we speak, i know a man who could probabl help, and ill give you his number mate.
  4. £5-6/tonne!!! Boomeco pay double that for tree surgery waste, at 28m3 a time.
  5. Insulation tape and a nice sharp blade....i often use the stihl billhook which is usually kept razor sharp. Really clean cut that way.
  6. Thats one of my favourite carvings ever mate.
  7. Only that in general if it isnt really really dry there can be serious chimney cleaning issues. Not huge deal, but something to be aware of IMO.
  8. We have had both solid fule rayburns and agas, and aga also made (may still do) a solid fule boiler to go next to the cooker. Had one of them in a property too. Brilliant. Not sure how long your chimney will last burning leylandii mate.
  9. Found this whilst looking through the fone. I think it took it just after we had a bit of snow the other week. Steaming woodchip in the morning sun. I came over all 'art student' for a minute:blushing:
  10. They have done the rounds down here too apparently, with the blag that they are flogging cheap huskies as the factory is relocating and husky are selling all their stock off before the move. 3x 390xp for £1000 i heard.
  11. Great stuff Simon, that looks really good. I am waiting for a chance to do some coronet cutting, but have mentioned it to a few customers who looked at me suspiciously even after a brief explanation of the idea.
  12. Here is a pic for your perusal John....pinched from the lunge thread, sported by Olly, some of aforementioned big dogs...
  13. Congratulations mate. Hope you have many happy years together.
  14. Yes you can John. I have them on mine, and so does Timber Cutter Dartmoor. PM him (jon) and he will tell you where you can get them
  15. I just saw the pics of your tunes....sorry i've just cum. Vinyl junkies of the world unite..
  16. essential arb is getting the same effect in a way, by reducing the draw on the chimney as opposed to increasing the air supply.
  17. Hot wires mean bad conections under the huge load that cranking an engine causes. You need to check things like connectins and general condition of the wire itself.
  18. This is quite amusing.....Laughing policemen in trouble for sledging ? using a riot shield | UK news | guardian.co.ukand theres a video too!
  19. I milled some jap larch last year that had been on the ground ages, touch it and the bark fell away with ease, and some of it we had to dig out of the undergrowth where it had been stuck. The timber was fantastic. That stuff doesnt rot mate.
  20. It certainly is important!!!!
  21. You not got a local mill that will take it- you should get some good money for it mate- better than firewood and if its close enough for you to get it there you can have the delivery costs too!
  22. Nice one Liam and TW. Dont they make chippers aswell as clothes....
  23. I will try and find a price tomorrow mate, but i can tell you it is £45-50/m3 delivered in here from euroforest, and Pryor and ricket want about £65.....thats Jap Larch BTW. Thing is i would have said the quality is a little higher where you are as it is probably slower grown too.
