  1. Well everyone, especially Steve for sorting it out. Good effort.

    Dakar 2012

Real shame someone died, apparently he had a heart attack after falling off his bike. Terrible, let's hope there is no more.
  3. I would love to give it ago, but not on TV!

    Dakar 2012

Anyone else following the Dakar this year? Looks like a tough one, even the organisers say it is the most difficult for a few years. New terrain, new vehicles should be good. Always wanted to have a go on a bike but feel a bit old now!
  5. Ha ha, he must have a sense of humour. Oh he's serious - even better ha ha!
  6. Yes, good one. I think I would stop there though or I'd a bigger truck!
  7. Deer man, you are spot on. I have just got back from Afghan, forget the old fashioned rope, tie bandage tourniquet- simply they don't work especially once the casualty starts to get moved. The CAT is awesome for stopping arterial bleeding, but by Christ you need to do it tight, it will hurt more than the injury if applied correctly! Like you say a life saver! In terms of stopping agents Celox is the way forward imo, but you need to push it right in the wound so unlikely to be a one man task, keep it on the ground. Along with some FFDs, I can't see what other major first aid kit you need. Possibly a pelvic splint as they are so versatile...
  8. Wow, 3.5k! Like the conveyer though, I might put one on mine.

Will, does your think you can get quinine tablets over the counter? I have found them very good. Will try more bananas as well.

    cramp

Try drinking tonic water amazing but it works. Also quinine tablets help but I don't know if you can get them over the counter.
  11. Just got back from Afghan 4 weeks ago. Last post was a bit emotional, the support is really important - thank you all.
  12. Definitely pre rigged but well cool all the same. A bit more bang and it will be chipped as well.
  13. The best (most drastic) I have heard was from a Mongolian guy I worked with who didn't turn off his kamaz between Oct and Mar! I bet he wouldn't do that with UK fuel prices!
  14. I use second hand food containers from when food is shipped in bulk, they are cheap and very tough (no wheels though) and you can't get your saws in them. But they are excellent for climbing and rigging kit. I got mine from Smiths in the Forest of Dean (can't put link but) address is http://www.smithsofthedean.co.uk I have found the 45 liter/10 gallon 2 handled ones good value- I paid 6 quid each for the 2 I have and I will get some more. Also I have a Gorilla Box, I think it is expensive and doesn't take many knocks, ok if you are gentle on your kit... Hope this helps.
  15. I get my 2 stroke oil from Forest Lubricants in the Forest of Dean, they had the contract to produce Stihl 2 stroke oil a while back. Basically he hasn't changed his formula and says (after some analysis) pretty much all 2 stroke is the same. Therefore running 50:1 will be fine running 20:1 may gum up your saw (but may not) and will cost you over twice as much in oil... So 50:1 all the way for me.
  16. Me to, 6 months in Afghan and back to this! try to work out which is worse... ha ha
  17. HI, I am after some advice. Has anyone changed the lowering release valve on a IFOR TT105? How difficult is it and long long do you reckon it will take? For some background - The tipper bed goes up and sometimes won't come back down. the system has been stripped and cleaned and this what i was told was wrong with it. Many thanks in advance as i may not be on here for a few days of so. Mark
  18. Just looked this morning it hasn't meet it's reserve. Might be worth a call if anyone is interested. I would have a go myself if I wad in the uk.
  19. Ha ha, I've had a few whiskeys so could be either. Hiccup
  20. Geoff, I couldn't agree more!
  21. God. I spoke to my local dealer about it yesterday, he said LR were keeping quiet about it. Now we know why! I wonder what the tipper looks like?
  22. I really like to look of the Husky and it looks like it will have some good features, but it would be nice to know when it will be released. Thanks for all comments, interesting thoughts on going for an Echo or similar.
  23. Cheers Steve. I had similar reliability issues with my 200t, glad to hear the 201 is better how long have you had it and does it use much less fuel? I really like the look of the Husky it looks a much more ergonomical design, but haven't been too impressed with 338. Buying a new model always has risk. Anyone had a play with the 540?
