  1. hmmm i think i may have a look into doing them in the new year , at least then i can operate a tractor and timber trailer
  2. it is possible for me to come up from Cornwall if your stuck .
  3. which units do you need assessing and how many candidates ?
  4. which FMO covers the use of a tractor roof mounted crane to load a timber trailer ?
  5. It is nice to hear that there are still a few guys out there that are still cutting by hand , its a real shame that this is a skill that's almost lost now . That being said there is now a big push to reduce the number of heavy machines that are working in smaller woodlands and areas of interest . i wouldn't mind getting into a bit of hand cutting .
  6. sounds like a great opportunity for someone !!!! there are not many jobs like this come along ever day !!!!!!
  7. ahhh i see , well its a good winch that you have opted for
  8. if we had not spent a fair bit out on kit in the last couple weeks i would be really keen on a machine like that
  9. My only question would be whether you had considered the Hydraulic or pto winch ? the only reason i ask is that with a Hydraulic or pto winch you dont have a problem with replacing motor parts or upgrading for gigglepin motors etc , we run a hydraulic winch on our 130 and it has proven to be really handy and great for long pulls out of valleys when needed
  10. Thanks Pete That sheds some light , never the less i think i shall b having a word or two with the seller !!
  11. this is so true Shane , i will be speaking to the guy i bought it from and request a genuine replacement blades .
  12. hmmmm im so thankfull i never ran the machine up !!
  13. what was the reason behind them breaking ?
  14. Hi just wondering if anyone has had experience of Jensen chipper blades snapping whilst in the machine ??. Today i was removing the blades from our A240 that we have just bought , my intention was to get them sharpened as they were blunt but on removing the first blade i noticed that the first 1/4 of the blade had snapped and that the middle of the blade was cracked to the point it was only just held together !!! these blades are not genuine Jensen blades but they are from a well known supplier of which i have bought several sets of blades for our other chipper from . To be honest im guite shocked that they were in this condition and so glad that we didnt test or put the chipper strait to work !!
  15. Sorry to hear that mate , i hope your back up and running real soon .
  16. There Dean is where the problem is - You feel its utter bollox ! a great way to portray your self and the industry for anyone who wishes to have a look on here ! Where do you get the idea that the course is only a morning ? Ahhhh i see you would think that because you have not been on one your self . Do you have anyone trained to bring your mewp down in the event you have an accident ?
  17. And in which year did your dad start to drive a HGV and in which year did he stop ? . I think the biggest reason behind the idea of making everyone jump was to cut down on the number of fool having daft accidents
  18. Well done , its always a great feeling when you pass a cs unit , so have you got your head down and getting into the cutting now ?
  19. spend £80 quid and get a new carb !
  20. Ahhh cool , we are looking for a valtra thats both good in the woods and good on the road as it wil need to haul a trailer and 8 tons of timber , as well as this it will need to power our Jensen A240. although its 105hp i would think its able to cope ??
  21. hmmmm ok well im guessing there aint many used , how about a Valtra 6050 ?
  22. i have found an up turn in the commercial side but have yet to see anything happen on the domestic side , mind you i spend most of my time competeing against the firms that dont have the vat to worry about
  23. Huck , are you finding thats this is the case in domestic and commercial work or ?
  24. well it sure does depict how things can change .
  25. Did the youth have an acceptable level of training ? was he supervised if new to the operation of the machine ? Removing safeguards if anyone other that the person who removed them is downright foolish and as far as i can see there should be a prosecution brought against whoever left the machine in that condition and the same if the youth had not been trained or supervised !
