  1. All that aside you cant eat turnover !! its great to have a turnover of 150k but if it costs you £149,999.00 in expenses then your not doing quite as well as your turnover would lead you to believe

  7. personally i would forward it on to your local HSE inspector ! what he is doing is selfish No insurance = no comeback and i would assume he has no certs when it comes to tree work in which case if he did have an accident the homeowner would/could be the one taking the flack from HSE . this is what the decent firms are trying to compete with and its fair to say not on a level playing field !!

  15. The Government should take a large slice of the blame pie ! How does anyone expect the British economy to recover when we have next to nothing to recover it with . Britain managed to recover from the previous recession by its manufacturing strengths because Britain still had a half decent and wide array of manufacturing industry , now have a look at where the bulk of previously British manufactured goods come from and then have a look at who is in the greatest financial pain !! The country has allowed several generations to sit at home and refuse to work because their benefits leave them better off ! where has the nations working backbone gone ? will we see the time in which men were proud to go to work to provide or their family no matter what the job was ? Not until the government revues its benefit system and stops trying to alter an archaic system and actually produce a new system and set of standards for obtaining benefits .

  17. I would agree with most of what you have said Andy and having trialed on of the prototypes for a couple months i would certainly agree that the 504 is way ahead of anything that Stihl has ever had on the market with regard to Top Handled saws . My biggest disappointment is That Husky have Given numerous release dates for the saw which goes back as far as the last APF , even when trialing the saw we were told that it would be available in January this year , then it was August and then it would be out in time for the APF and then when i inquired at the beginning of this month i was told that Suppliers would have them in stock for October but its most likely that they wil not be on sale until January !!!!! Clearly Husky did not Have a saw that was anywhere near ready to be released two years ago and maybe they should have kept the release date quiet untill they were sure of the product ! Im not a big Stihl fan but im fairly sure i have never seen a product advertised in their sales catalog for two years running that is not even in the stages of final production let alone available in the uk !! surely that is false advertising . Anyway al that aside i will be ordering a couple just as soon as i can

  19. I tend to climb in all weathers , im not overly keen to climb in torrential rain if there is something elts to be doing but that said i know that winter is on its way and i will find myself climbing in the day or night no matter what the weather is !! its either for LA's or utilities and neither are keen on waiting when it comes to emergency works . This is wh y i have invested in a 130 landrover defender that has a built in cab heater within quadtech box that over night will dry al of our climbing kit , wet clothes etc (and makes an amazingly warm crib hut when waiting to be issued a with a sanction for works

  21. the first disadvantage i can see from the situation of small firm is the running and repair costs versus the proffit o creating bio mass . on the pluss side i can see it being potentially really viable if your doing it on a small scale for your own uses with a cheaper machine etc
  22. To be honest this should start to eradicate the cowboy contractors , any firm that is serious about the industry should be able to get the H&S side of running a firm right !! Having spoken too and worked with our local HSE officer it is quite clear as to what their intentions are and the decent firms out there should not have too much too worry about . Yes this initiative was brought about because the HSE has had its Government funding all but taken away so they now have to fund them selves . The scheme is intended to make the HSE more accountable for what they are doing and what they are acting on . Ask your selves how many times you have seen a firm carrying out work in a dangerous manor that you know they have gone in cheep for and wish the HSE were about ???? Now it is totally possible to make the HSE act and be held accountable for not getting involved
  23. Great stuff , glad to hear you have found a pup , i bet your kids are made up !! happy days
  24. My Advice would be not to settle for second best !! keep saving what ever you can until you can get either a cs100 or bigger !!
  25. Its great to have time to get on here again !! what with the missus giving me lists of jobs to be completed before the baby gets here lol ! As For The 540xp If it does get released this side of the next olympics being held in the uk i will be amazed !!
