  2. The time has come that i need to look for a timber trailer !! im sick of paying firms to come in and move timber for me when it results in paying almost as much to move the timber as i make from selling it !! So im looking for reccomendations of timber trailers with a grab that will work well off of the back of my mog (running both air and hyd brakes ) any advice , pics or ideas of trailers for sale is greatly appreciated Cheers Dave
  3. hahahaha we have been using the head tourtches for most of the summer at night due to the poor weather . i went for the duo 14 and have found it to be spot on !!!!!!!!!!!
  4. the bit i dont get is why the repair company would not re set the carb settings and make sure that the carb is in working order ? surely if you given a second hand carb to fit on a saw you check the carb over and set it t the origional settings an go from there ?
  5. i am tempted to sent it strait to stilh technicle and get it looked at by them to get a clear oppinion as to what has happened
  6. Recently we found that our Ms880 would not idle , this was not a great problem when cross cutting but was a PITA when felling ! so the saw was dropped off to our local macinery repair firm who had a look and could identify the problem i had been experiencing . After several days of taking it appart , pressure testing , vacume testing , checking the crank seals etc etc they were no further forward ! I asked if it could possibly be the carb ?? i knew i had a spare carm from an old 088 so i offered to drop it in to see if the saw would run any better , it was dropped in and hey ho with that carb fitted the was ran like a dream and probem solved (or so i thought). This week we take the saw out on site for the first time andlike any other day we filled it with the same fule as the rest of our saws run on , started it and warmed it up and then sent it up to the climber, the saw is cuttin fine untill the climber pauses to re position and while the saw is ticking over we heard a small pop?clunk and the saw stoped ! it soon became clear that the saw had siezed and there was evidence of aluminium on the spark plug to make it obvious !!. My problem is that it went in to have the idle problem solved and as come back to us working and then siezed. this saw is not that old at all and has not done that muc work (2 chains on a 48 inch bar). im wonering if it is something that has happend due to the saw being striped down or ???? Any advice would be great . cheers Dave CTS
  7. Just wanted to say a big thanks to F.R Jones and Fletcher& Stewart for managing to get me a Pfanner Jacket sent over from Germany , really pleased with the product and sevice from both firms and to think that that product was not available in this country !!!!!!!! just goes to show that the lads at F.R Jones with go out of their way to provide an A1 service .

  9. Tommer Tommer Tommer i think you will find their names give it away a little
  10. or if you get really stuck you can try CBL in saltash , but you would have to be really stuck before going to them !!
  11. what it is current back window made from ?
  12. tyr as many harnesses on as possible and chose the one that is right for you and not what other climbers are raving about
  13. I had this problem and found that it was due to the polly bushes at either end of the feed roler shaft being worn , this happened to mine at about 350 hours , our machine was greased every 30 - 40 hours and well loked after . my advice would be to either change the polly bushes (which is not as strait forward as it would seem ) or get your locall dealer to do it . IMO the sooner you get that done the better !!!!!
  14. Hmmmm do you need trakced access to get accros a river or anything ? LMAO Sorry tom had to be done . Any way i would give tommer a shout
  15. come on own up whos kicked over the half open can of worms ???? lmao
  16. Yes the cause of kick back in your situation it the chain , pop into celtic engineering and get them to make an oregon chain for you . hows the course going and where you doing your training too ?
  17. personally after trying to convince the custimer the lopping the tree back to previous topping points is not a good idea i would probably the approach felling it ! that the customer pays a higher bill this time but never has to spend a penny on whats possibly going to turn into a potentail hazard . I have found in these cases that when you point out that in the long run it will be far cheeper to fell the tree and re plant with a more suitable species such as something small and relatively slow growing quite a few customer will go ahead with that as opposed to leaving a rather fugly stick that will need the same treatment in 7-10 years just my oppinion though
  18. ha ha have a look on the sellers "other items" didnt think the logging scene was that big in cornwall !!!!!!!!!! not one standing tree left !
  19. Sorry Stu did you say now called or SO called !
  20. ah ha ha ha ha !!!!!!!! me thinks tommer will be having a WEE chuckle !!!
  21. Im not sure if it has been said already but one system i like to use when spiking leaning trees and small dia timber is to take up a couple webbing slings and spare carabs , simply stay on ur pole system but when u get to the point that u want to take out a top or section of timber simply get a webbing sling and choker it off round the stem of the tree , when doing this you need to be sure that you keep the free end at a length that its gust possible to use your spare carab and clip it on to your central attachment point . once you are clipped in then manouver your self untill the sling is tight and your secure , you will not get muach(if anny) movement and it will allow you to make your cuts . Also it is possible that in the event that you need to be rescued it may be possible to use the sling and carab as an anchor point . Another point is that this system is also safe as the sling can be cut away in the event of a rescue being required . Hope this helps and i will try to get some pics if anyone wants them .
  22. I must say a big thanks to Mike Hill for giving me a call and talking me through the wireing system . Many thanks
  23. Thanks guys , i was not sure if this mog had a pto safety swithch but i guess i had best get the spot light out and get hunting for it ! it was a suprise to find that who ever owned the mog before me had taken the clutch safety switch off and stuch a fencing stapel in it !!! if all elts fails i will have to order a new ignition switch and run a bypass from the last safety switch to the soleoid but in all honesty im none to keen on doing that and i cant fine the bloody wires ha ha !!!!!!!
  24. Hi guys i have a problem that my mog will not start using the ignition , after having a good look round i have found that there is a live into the ignition switch , a live from the ignition to the starter motor and a live out to the starter solenoid BUT there is no live at the solenoid end of the wire ! i have tested the clutch safety switch and found it to be working but i am at a loss as to what to do next as the wires then go back into the loom never to be found again ! To top it all of the solenoid wire came loose from the ignition switch so my workmate decided to clean the terminl up while i went to get some more solder , when i got back i soldered the wire back on and dont you know now there is now no live coming out on the terminal that the solenoid wire goes onto !!! Im now tearing my hair out as i have spent got knows how many hours on it and i only seem to be going backwards . Can anyone help ?? Thanks in advance - Dave
