  1. great stuff mate , i ant to get an ms660 as i currently have a husky 288xp but its starting to get a bit long in the tooth and the ms880 is a bit much to be taking up a tree when there is no need to
  2. nice one shrek i guess the massive cranes there are to loag your mog on board lol
  3. when ross taylor was down working with me for 4 days he saw my strop thats just like yours also with a snap hook and he said that as a qualified LOLER inspector he would fail it as its not fit for purpose as the snap hook is not 3 way so i got rid of it last wekend when a bought a new set up form jonesie ,
  4. and after that in sure they will want srs airbags and black box lol
  5. no not all of it , basicly we got it in because of the condition of some limbs and the way in which they were cable braced i felt that climbing it would not be the best of ideas as neither myself or the tree officer could work out what was keeping most of the tree standing , i will post some pictures of the climbing work .
  6. but more to the point hwo in there would let the trainee loose with a 50 ton crane ??? i did get a go in it as well lol
  7. if you had said that before we started i would have paid to see you do it , the final cuts at the top required the 88 but only with a 36" bar
  8. lol will take a picture of the remaining trunk with the transit beside it tomorrow just as a reference ,
  9. fisrs pic is the height of the tree when we started , second is the height the owner wanted it left at for the wild life to enjoy oh an the third is the 18 yearold trainee being let loose with a 50 to crane
  10. here are a coule of pics untill i can get the rest from the groundy
  11. tried that but when i try to insert an immage its asks for the url with no other options
  12. how do you add a picture from a memmory card ??
  13. nice pic,s shrek , will post a couple after tea
  14. will post SOME later , and will take a picture of whats teft of the tre tomorrow
  15. i wish he would , he said yesterday that he would have them today , text him and get him to email me tem mate , otherwise i feel he will need a good thrashing lol
  16. you can also do this with the art positioner , the advantage with the atr positioner is that there is no not to get in the way , i use my strop from the attachment points for the sliding d on my skylotec i find it is alot more comfortable
  17. never seen one let alone used one , what does it have over the art positioner ??
  18. will pop down to the yard and have a look after dinner mate , yeah bramble is good still chewing anything he can get his paws on , when do you start your new job ?
  19. i use a distel with micro pulley but am going to get an art positioner as they are a bit better to use with zero sit back
  20. i really hope not , i have some of the tree part way through the job but wanna post them from start to finnish
  21. verry true mate , it has happened to me as well and i learnt from it !! i think getting your cuts right is most important . but then if your using a big saw in a tree like 660 or an 880 you should have lot of experience using smaller saws first ! a noticed that my skylotec appears to have a tear away tool strop attachment point !
  22. i found that my stein allowed more through air than my old vertex vent but hey i guess its different for everyone
  23. jonesie sold me a set of green peltor ear defenders to go on my stein helmet and they are just as good as husky of sordin ear defenders imo
  24. i have beeu usin a petel for the last 3-4 years but last weekend at the arb show a bought a stein helmet with a smoked visor and a clear visor and this week have found it to be really comfortable , the air vents allow more air to circulate through the helmet and the plastic visors really keep out the saw dust . well worth the money , but from what i have been told neither are to be used on utility cutting according to a w.p.d authorising officer because of the vents in the helmet they provide a much lesser protection from electrical hazards . but i must say that is only what i have been told , other utility companies may be different
  25. i was taught to climb with your saw attached to your harness via a tool strop and if needed and its practical to do so use a tool line from the ground to support it , but when using any saw where there is a possibility that the saw may become trapped in the Kerf of the falling timber then un clip your saw from your harness an either clip it round a branch or clip it up short . accidents do happen i saw a chap get his saw caught in a section of falling timber but thankfully the strop he was using to cary the 660 was designed to tare away , didnt do the saw much good tho !!!!
