  1. I'm just wondering how much volume we can fit on the trailer and what weight that realistically equates to.. I have a Logbus 110D trailer and crane combo at the moment, which is supposedly a 10t trailer, but in normal thinnings, firewood thinnings etc I would rekon when she's full to the gunnels she's still only taking out roughly 4t at a time. I'll give Alex a shout this week and see what he's saying price wise..
  2. Has anyone had any experience with the Kronos Trailer sold by A C Price ?? I'm quite interested in the Kronos 160 driven trailer, Kronos They appear to be a much heavier construction than most forwarding trailer and look more suited to forestry work. Shall be contacting A C Price this week for pricing.. Any thoughts most welcome, Matt
  3. That thing looks dangerous!!!!
  4. I use Trust for ALL my insurance..... they offer the best service by far.
  5. Guys, the Add says to PM him with a CV!!
  6. Try Cameron at Trust insurance.... monthly payments, happy days!
  7. We're doing alright here for Autumn forgaging.. So far we've enjoyed some wild mushroom soup (chantrels) We enjoyed a few Grouse back in August allong with some blaeberry off the hill and then more recently we've had Brown Hare, Pheasant and some nice Mallard. Yesterday I bagged a nice roe buck which will adorn my freezer on Monday or Tuesday. Hopefully get some time go pick some Sloes for winter gin over the weekend!!
  8. Interesting... From looking at the photos, if access is ok and there's no major constraints I could actually drive down from the Highlands, do the work and drive back up for less than 2.5k!!
  9. That's awful news.... verry sorry to hear about that, what a waste of a life. Hope they catch the scum responsible.
  10. Try Cameron at Trust Insurance - 01604 492644 They insure my Mercedes MB Trac and I have to say, it was very very reasonable. Good luck!
  11. I live 10 mins north of Aviemore at Boat of Garten... they're forecasting that we will have a very long hard winter this year and it should be equal to or worse than last year...
  12. You'll be far to close to the coast for getting snowed in I'm afraid Melvyn... If you want to get snowed in you'll need to be in central speyside for a good chance!
  13. Here's wishing Dave a speedy recovery.. terrible news.
  14. Cheers Karl, I saw it come in... i'll try and give you a call this week!
  15. I'd give Cameron a ring at Trust Insurance - well worth a chat and a quote if nothing else. Cameron Yeo - 01604 492644
  16. Yep, you were warned...
  17. yawn...
  18. You wont need the chipper to fly that low... ask them to fly a bit higher so as to reduce the down-draft??
  19. Hey Karl.... any chance you could post some pics or drop me an e-mail [email protected] We're pretty interested in finding a debarker specifically for telegraph poles..
  20. Dadio... I put it to you that you are, infanct, an eejit. A spade is a spade in my book..
  21. I'd be getting her resistograph tested or even consider a tomograph.. I wouldnt have thought there was any particular rush to fell the tree, it won't fall over over-night, buta crown thin and deadwood followed by regular monitoring, perhaps every 6 months will soon give you an indication as to the extent of the decay and how it is affecting the tree... if after a few follow up inspections the condition seems to worsen or the decay is more prevalent, then perhaps look to fell and replant, monolith or similar.
  22. I'd recommend you give PDG a call.... we have priced some work with them recently for a job on a steep hillside. You'll be looking at quite a bit of money, approximatlet 7-10k per day I would expect. Give them a call, they're good guys!
  23. I just can't believe this guy has been living in the woods half a mile from my front door... makes you feel sick. Having read alot of the rubbish spouted on his Facebook page - Hubert Noditza | Facebook you have to come to the conclusion that he's disturbed, sick, mentally ill etc... A total nut job. It's my understanding that he is now back in the village Matt
  24. Maybe i'll make you a video! For what it's worth - I will try your method, but not on a big tree. This technique of yours is an accident waiting to happen IMO. You say that it is 'tricky' to adjust the ammount of wood to leave up top... that in itself is a recipie for disaster for anybody attempting to do this cut that hasn't got much experience.. Like I originally said, I would be resorting to traditional, proven, SAFE methods that don't leave anything to chance or guesswork. Especially with a larger stem.
  25. A good solution to this would be to ballast the front tyres, or look at having the front axle weighted
