  1. You need to be a bit careful with bio oils as well, as I was told by a dealer that they are not pasturised and if you have any cuts, scratches etc on your hands and you get the oil into them then they can cause infections and even septacemia in some cases. Bio oils are good for the environment, but not so good for the operator or the saw!
  2. I had thought of that today, and moved the overflow pipe from the header tank to the front of the block so that if it let coolant go I would be able to see it but it didnt appear to overflow at all. I'm a bit concerned that it might be a head gasket or crack in the block but i'm sure there would be water in the oil if that was the case. Another concern is that it is a frost plug/core plug at the back of the engine where we can't get to it!!
  3. Hi Guys, I was wondering if anybody could shed some light on an irritating little problem I've got with my MB. It's an F reg MB Trac 1000, and the engine seems to be using coolant. There is no water in the oil, the exhaust seems to be quite normal but it seems to loose around 4l of coolant over a period of a few days and then sit at a level after this initial loss. After a run on the road there seems to be steam coming from the back of the engine towards the bulkhead with the cab which is completely inaccessible even for an inspection as far as we can tell. I had wondered about frost plugs etc but can't seem to locate any on the block and had also thought of a hole in the radiator and have administered rad weld as a precaution but the loss of coolant is still happening. Any thoughts most welcome!!
  4. Hi Guys, I'm looking for a few extra hands for a railway clearance contract for two weeks in March (end of March). The job is in Aberdeenshire and is on Dayshift. Ideally looking for a COSS/Chainsaw Operative, and another PTS Chainsaw Operative or PTS Chipper Operative. Please e-mail [email protected]
  5. Sounds to me like you need to cut racks into the wood and thin into the racks, much easier for all concerned, more timber on the deck and far easier for the next thinning. Failing that, how are you extracting the timber??!
  6. The damage is caused by Brown Hares - very common in the snow - they will go for any green bark when there is snow on the ground. Nothing you can do to stop it other than shooting the hares or putting some netting round the trees I'm afraid.
  7. I had the good fortune to have my TM set up by one of the guys who designed it.. You should have the leg loops adjusted as high as possible and wear the harness as low as possible, like a pair of hipster jeans. The harness was designed to support and hold you whilst allowing maximum movement - if you feel uncomfortable at all then it's set up wrong. Once you get it right though, you really do notice the difference.
  8. And the moral of the story is.... geisha's are tight??

  15. Are you saying that you are running a technically illegal sideline and paying no tax or NI contributions from your profits on an open internet forum? I wouldnt be prepared to comment on 'how much' you should be making per week 'on the side' as you shouldn't make anything on the side at all, it should be legitimate additional earnings.

  21. You wont be touching it at all over the winter.. I would base your quote on one cut of the grass every other week as a the framework for your pricing and then stipulate that additional visits can be made at the tennants request if they feel the grass is growing too quickly or want it tidied up sooner at an additional fixed cost of £xxx.xx
  22. nahhh you're too cheap mate..... up it a bit... They're paying £10k on Mars at the moment!! Its not supprisng considering the roadside cost of timber has gone up to £20k a ton in Narnia!
  23. going out on a limb.. I would think alot of what you are seeing is due to grazing by livestock in the past...
  24. 5k per cube...which we actually put into 0.68 M3 builders bags and sell as a cube We don't sell much though...
