  1. Thought I'd drop into this thread. Managed 32miles in afan forest yesterday. Totally ruined me, great fun though! Manged to fall off twice (damn spds) and had one small crash. Planning a 3 day trip into Wales next.
  2. Jeez can't professionals just be allowed to get on with their living and earn a wage. Far too much red tape in this country imo.
  3. Isn't it sad how we rib people for leaving the tools out, just because there are so many thieving scum out there. I got the same when they stole our hedge trimmers, literally a few metres away from me, they drove up lobbed them on and drove off. People's reaction, "why did you leave them out". Having every tool by your side day in day out is so difficult and really slows down work. Arh it makes me mad. Back on topic, silly boys leaving that lot for the picking
  4. We have two Hondas, 6 years of use and neither have missed a beat. Brilliant machines.
  5. Oh god is it that time again. There will be a lot of gear going missing again for sure.
  6. Very gusty in Dorset. Reducing a hedge so not too much of a problem, hoping the rain holds off!
  7. I don't see the problem? It saves him going down the hospital for 'the snip'. Should prevent him from breeding.
  8. I can't watch these programs. The whole traveller situation in this country is ridiculous. Every year we have the Dorset steam fair down here and crime goes through the roof. We cant leave a power tool out of reach, not for a minute. We see them driving round at walking pace casing properties/etc.
  9. I wish I had my old rangers mpg! But then swapping it for a tuned Subaru legacy was probably a bit silly :-) Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  10. I'm a massive hypocrite, just about to buy another kombi engine, as we have the rest of the kit, but our 130 engine failed after very little use imo. I really wanted to buy a kawasaki, but the head felt unbalanced and slow to adjust. Couldn't find an echo dealer locally to try. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
  11. Just to revive this thread, Stihl have completely failed us with their 130 4mix. A couple of years ago I had a 130 go back to the dealer (who did everything they could) several times, but the same poor running and difficulty to start kept coming back. Stihl had it back 'fixed' it, only for the fault to return, it cost us loads in lost time. In the end the dealer replaced it, the new one developed the same fault, but we just put up with it, leaking fuel and being a PIG to start. Now just over two years on its died (terminal) and Stihl dont want to know. How do people find the husky long reach trimmers? I dont think I can go back to stihl trimmers after all this! Anyone want a 130 for spares/repairs? lol
  12. My 56 ranger had a faulty diff and notchy gear box at 26k, it was a great truck but had to sell it as I'm a car nut and needed something practical and fast.
  13. Stay small for me, I went from project management where I was stressed all the time to a job I enjoy, i don't want to lose that.... But I don't think I'm going to be able to earn a decent wage without growing the business a little.
  14. Totally agree Pete, but the guys I know who are on there seem to get a lot of work from it too, I'm tempted with it next year.
  15. We've had two now, super reliable and an awesome turning circle! They are utterly terrible off road though. Look out for a noisy gearbox though. Ours has done about 30k and it's just about shot.
  16. Hi Pete,

I don't come on here often so just go this. Things are pretty good, work is a bit slow. How's you?

  17. My P is my initial and my surname is Lennox. My brother had E 13NOX on our old L200. I want to get one for the cabstar too, but can't afford to waste the money at the mo
  18. Personally I'd water a new lawn every other evening, then soak it once a week after the roots have taken. I also spread slow release fert before laying the turf, had nothing but great results. I really enjoy the odd turfing job, its a nice break from the tree work. Also don't let the customer scalp the lawn!
  19. Spot on! I'm hitting squats twice a week, it hurts, but worth it. My legs are lagging though.
  20. I had to move a bee's nest, they were nesting in a bird box right under the tree we were felling. I couldn't believe how tolerant they were of me moving them! Gotta love bees.
  21. Are you just flat benching? I'd look at several things. Try and add decline bench press and incline dumbell press into your sessions. I like to do flys too, the isolate the chest a bit more. Which part of your body do you think is letting you down? Maybe some more tricep work is needed. Dips can help you load up the weight, but they aggravate my shoulder injury Do you squat and deadlift? Seems silly, but these can help too, the big compound movements promote natural growth hormones.
  22. I left my 8 year career in electrical engineering to chop trees Well not quite, my bro was thinking about starting up on his own and I HATED working in an office/couldn't take the stress. I quit my career, took a hefty pay cut and started a business with my brother. 4 years on and I'm still a way off earning a decent wage, but I'm much happier!!!! I do enjoy what I do for a living, not many people can say that.
  23. Go for the 25/125, it'll be worth every penny, it's our first chipper and its been brilliant.
  24. I guess we get 1 a week on average.
  25. I found you need lots of relevant content, with your keywords used as much as possible. So Tree surgeons, tree surgery, hedge trimming, stump grinding etc needs to be repeated as much as possible, but within relevant text. I have also found you need to get the areas in which you work added. Reciprocal links from other websites help too. I pretty much built my website and its on the first page of google without any paid ads. If you want a link from my site drop me a pm and I'll add one. Professional Tree Surgeons in Bournemouth and Poole : Lennox Services Its not a great site, but was cheap and seems to work well. I found getting some reviews on my google maps page helped too.
