  1. 'Near a roundabout'... could be significant.
  2. Haecksler have an assisting driven wheel option on at least one of their models
  3. 'Bout 5 miles from Croydon ?
  4. As Josh rightly says talk to your neighbours. People need to talk. Obviously there's no guarantee of them being nice people who care about their responsibilities but you won't know if you don't approach them.
  5. My understanding of HF is that it's more a scavenger than a primary predator. If you keep your garden healthy - mulching annually for example, ensuring drainage is good, using chemicals sparingly and preferably not at all - most plants should keep it at bay. When a plant weakens due to stress from any cause HF will pounce. The fungus and its spores are everywhere; don't feel it's picking on you. I don't know about laurel's susceptibility but if you have Cotoneasters I believe they are a favourite of HF.
  6. The interviewed wife of one of the poor sods got it right about politicians getting away with it: on a pro rata basis that despicable SNP MP would get 5 years.
  7. Same as above; have run all machines on 2 or 4-stroke Aspen for years now. Never had a problem except for needing a fuel, line in the early days in an already old saw. As Stevie says you'll thank yourself for the change and very quickly come to the conclusion that you have crossed a one-way line - there's no going back to filthy 2-stroke (or 4-stroke if applicable).
  8. I see your point entirely but my experience says you'd find a big difference between BJ and the dealer you used. BJ used to deal direct with users but no more; when they did they were top notch. If you approached them (too late now I guess) you'd be taken seriously.
  9. No apology needed - good to see you back.
  10. 2mm and 1mm sounds a bit thin for the BJ sides; the tops certainly are thin though and won't take bashing with trunk rings etc - I think I've said this earlier in the thread. But bear in mind that the lower drop sides are double skinned and reinforced internally so I could be wrong. Comments above about not standing on the high sides' ribs etc are spot on. @Alycidon if you want me to check those thicknesses (and tyres) I 'm happy to do so.
  11. James Pepperpot on here is straight down the A21; try messaging him.
  12. Oo get you ?
  13. I wonder if Golden Bough ever even read the first reply...
  14. Ditto. I've put small clips on the elastic loops so can clip to the mesh from outside. But mine was a freebie from @se7enthdevil ! Cheers Steve!
  15. That's neat. My trailer's a Brian James and the pattern isn't mesh, more square holes with flat bars of metal between.
  16. Blimey - ok. I think I'm needing about 300 rivets!
  17. I bought a load of 3mm perspex for exactly this purpose some months ago but haven't got round to doing anything about it. I now have a nagging doubt; can you pop rivet 3mm perspex without shattering it?
  18. I watched a PTO driven 15" one a few years back doing some domestic biomass chip. God it was slow. Mentioned it to a mate who knows his stuff and his words were 'never a better name for a chipper', i.e. junk.
  19. Morden Hall's miles from Croyditz!
  20. No argument on that one eggs and even if not experience would cause the '**** it, I'm doing it anyway' attitude to kick in and worry about the niceties later.
  21. If true that could explain any lack of searching: searching the opposite sex is very non-pc don't you know and to be avoided if at all possible. Checking outer clothing is OK but any more than that needs lots of justification.
  22. I agree eggs but the length of service on the streets is dire; experience and old sweat guidance is in very short supply. Perhaps those involved were simply too inexperienced for the 'safety first' mentality to have kicked in - not through lack of training though. Custody Officer should be a safe job apart from keyboard RSI and weapon-free threat from prisoners. But let's not jump to conclusions;. Homemade firearms can be tiny - hence easily concealed - yet lethal at close range; we don't know what sort of weapon was involved. The only conclusion it is fair to jump to is that it should obviously not have happened. Thoughts have to be with the poor victim's family.
  23. Wow. That's some assumption. You may be right of course but until you know... What my wife has told me she found online was that officers didn't want to search on the street due to the presence of a large group - they probably thought it safer to get him away as well as according to search laws' insistence that due dignity should be accorded searched persons. The facts will out but how the guy got as far as the inner sanctum without a search at least sufficient to find a gun I can't think. The poor arresting officer(s) have the consequences to live with forever.
  24. I'm even less help with the fungi I'm afraid but if you ever become aware of the tree being removed please, please let a good woodworker know; the timber is amazing and simply could not be allowed to go to waste. Thanks and sorry about the lack of help for your current problem.
  25. A 'chipper' for under £1k may chip a pencil but not much more. How about contacting a couple of garden machinery dealerships and enquiring into used/recon'd machines. If you're prepared to spend £1k perhaps you could find a decent secondhand machine that costs £2k new. These are good; the prices new should guide you in your search as to what to expect for £X. Here's a start for you Used Wood Chippers and Shredders at RT Machinery Ltd in Aylesbury, UK RTMACHINERY.CO.UK RT Machinery is an independent ground care company based in Nether Winchendon, Aylesbury.
