  1. I think I've read sufficient comment from a Scottish gent on here (can't remember which one) who lives with martens around him. Basically he says 'you don't want them; they eat anything that moves, not just squirrels'. I fear the risk of another poorly chosen introduction, or re-introduction even.
  2. Can't help with that one. What happens when you can't get your kid into a catchment area school? Going out now...
  3. No idea but how would that be relevant? The kids still need to get to school!
  4. The buses I referred to were rammed twice a day with kids getting to and from school!
  5. Not when you take into account the cost of putting right a uniquely diesel fault! I changed my last Nav because of one: the diagnosis for the recurring amber light was 'loss of fuel pressure'. No-one could keep the light out for more than a month despite changing several things at a cost of hundreds before I took the hint.
  6. I see sense in that. Diesel was all the rage when it was cheap grunt. Then someone said 'ooh, that's a bit smelly'! Downhill from there!
  7. Not just there Eggs. My mate half an hour away was telling me that all the bus routes his three kids used up to last year to get to different schools have gone - every one of them.
  8. Neither of my first two D40s had them; 57 and 11 plates. DPFs are a modern curse
  9. DPF... short journeys... The two simply don't go Stubby. I've a 65 plate D40 and thankfully do too much mileage; the important thing is the short trips are few and far between (unless you call John O'Groats short!) You're right; for short journeys you have features fighting among themselves but I guess the emissions regs force them upon the manufacturers. Sadly ev pickups will come too late for us; I'd love one but a mass produced model won't be here until I've stopped the tree/log work. I may not even be here!

    Jokes???

  11. A lack of locking mechanism in the open position? Wildly guessing here as no-one else has
  12. You sure? There is a dearth of panels on the newbuilds I see popping up
  13. As we're talking energy etc... anyone know why the retail price of domestic heating oil has shot up over the last week? Will it fall back again?
  14. Good luck with it. We're fixed price nighttime leccy until June '23 (21p/kw/hr). A Sussex barn with 9m long pitched roof will be going up soon so we'll be looking to install panels too. The rainwater will be going into the first of two old 1200l non-bunded oil tanks!
  15. Many owners of ev's have fixed price tariffs so October won't be their Doomsday; it'll be delayed that's all. And I mean us!
  16. That would not be a good thing; as if reserves aren't low enough already...
  17. If it does it's your fault!
  18. 👍...in a raised planting area
  19. Could 'near Chepstow' include Shaftesbury? I'm thinking Mark gobbypunk; I know he needs work
  20. Swap out the Orange for HE then. B52; top idea Steve. It's the way forward 😂
  21. Good stuff. This summer has brought home the need for rainwater harvesting, especially here in the south. I've just been given a tank that size, I'll hopefully grab another one next year from the same source and I may well buy a used one too; they're not exy second hand. We don't have many veggies to water but we've only lived here 18 months so have loads of newly planted stuff in both the ground and pots; Her Maj has a penchant for Agapanthus which are hungry and thirsty.

    Jokes???

  23. You got me 🏳️
  24. I suppose I should at least make some attempt at being constructive then... 'This would be on a large scale' Small digger with operator, remove all root infested material after cutting to ground level, import topsoil. Will cost a moderate amount of money but if that's a big problem they shouldn't have let the stuff get out of hand! (Assuming the occupiers haven't just moved in)
  25. So helpful 😄
