Ash will burn indeed. Remember that the smaller you split the logs the tighter they'll pack and less will be the airflow. Something to consider. But with ash - not a problem -

So what is the pic? One satellite on time lapse? You can see loads of satellites on a clear night although that one is very bright; you just need to look for moving stars that obviously aren't planes!

Do the branches have a small number of thorns? The leaf and flower is looking very much like Elaeagnus x Ebbingei. I've never seen one that size but I'm not aware of anything that says that if a specimen was left alone it couldn't attain it

Frank Matthews' plants are excellent quality in my experience; I bought four apples and a plum earlier this year and they're all in fine fettle. I've seen many others of theirs in the past too - always good

That may be true, I don't know, but one reason they thrive on dunes and sand is that they can manage there where others can't; sea buckthorn doesn't take competition

I'd say good old Lawson's. I think the fresh cut wood smells like a cross between lemon and vanilla; ring any bells? Woolly stuff until it matures (several decades), then the heartwood can be as hard as iron
