  1. yikes, that is bad news mate. do you still get free rd tax and mot exempt?
  2. i will enjoy these tunes later on lads, nice one. i used to laugh to myself when edd posted clasical, then i gave it a go. unbelievable how music can relax you sooooooooooooo much. classic fm every night while on arbtalk and the family are in their bed
  3. none taken my friend, i choose not to have long hair now, its a lifestyle choice. i still have a thick scalp and when the drive ins turn into a shiny dome of love and lust, i will just back comb some back and shoulder hair to give me the ultimate comb over:001_cool:
  4. holly molly, those morbark are huge. where did you get it. i have never seen any for sale over here:001_smile:
  5. i love it when a woman comes on site, the lads all of a sudden start throwing bits of wood twice the size as usual on the mog and working really hard showing off.
  6. happy as a pig in glabber. i do worry sometimes but hey who doesnt. i have 2 amazing wee boys and a great wife. i could take more money for myself but it would just get wasted on crap, so i like to save and invest. i would love to buy a campervan in the next few years for family hols, and take the boys to disney world when they are older. money cant buy your health, if you have that everything else is a bonus.
  7. monster morbark mate, what size does that chip??
  8. nice one mate, that is a cracker:001_cool:. what ever you do dont butcher that back canopy to make a chip box:ohmy:. sell it to mick and make a lovely stainless one. i nearly bought one of them once but the 4x4 was goosed.
  9. joe and tom, you guys will go far, you are grounded and appreciate what you have. we could all sit in the house thinking we are worth more. but in the last year with the way things have went with the country it is survival time. some weeks i dont make any money, some weeks it costs me. i have only ever taken 200quid a week as a wage for the last 10 years, and i have went months without wages to keep lads on due to crap payers. the rest is invested in kit, property and pensions(the latter isnt doing too well) my wife can feed the family for under 50quid a week because she is an amazing cook and doesnt waste anything, i dont go out at weekends, havent for 12 years. maybe about 6 times a year and maybe a outdoor show here and there. we live on a budget and have a good lifestyle and a nice home but arent extravagant. its not so much how much you make but how much you spend. imo
  10. joe my boy, you look like you are a racing snake(all huge banter aside) get yourself some muscles son, i thought you would be able to do chin ups till the cows come home.
  11. when i had long wavy hair i used to love the rain running through it, sensually upon my scalp and slowly down my curvacious shoulders, i would swish it too and fro like a wild stallion in the morning desert dew. it felt so good and refreshing, i would feel young and free:001_tt1:
  12. i pay my lad a fiver an hour, i cant afford to pay him anymore than that if i am teaching him as well. he stays at home, and has less than half a mile to his work. and i pay for his food daily, and i eat in very nice places. he is coming on fine, and works hard and appreciates the work. if we are busy he can rack up 55-60 hrs, so he is learning that it is hard work and long hours that make money. he is now competant in hedge cutting, chipping and maintaining saws. he can grease machines, change blades and now gets to drive the mog and valmet around the yard. not bad for only working with me for 3 months. i train guys to make money not look good in tight trousers. if he wants to chuck it tomorroe he can, we dont owe each other anything. he hasnt cost me a fortune and he hasnt wasted his time working for cheap:001_smile:
  13. dean, get yourself a mask with a fan on it, and rig up an extractor for all the dust, my old man now has adult asthma, he is 65 and has always worked with chainsaws and wood, he wears the mask and stuff always has but dust still gets through mate. especially if you are working with yew . the doctors couldnt believe the x ray of his lungs, they swore they thought they were from a 25 year old heavy smoker.
  14. dean is the man for this thread geoff, and john hancock works with one aswell, and i think monkeyd uses one as well.
  15. you would get labourers wages from me, and if you stuck in i would take some time to teach you as well, may seem harsh and incredibly unreasonable so some, but all most newbies do, is blunt saws and slow things down, maybe different if you got an la post but on contracting time is money. it is all down to the individual, show comitment and the right guy will look after you and the same goes for you, dont get mucked about by employers. sit down and get the cards on the table first, and even set reviews every 3 months to discuss how you are getting on and ways to improve your own skills and maybe increase pay
  16. i dont entertain smokers, i am a small business and i dont want it around me or any where near my worksites.
  17. my dad had been woodturning for about 15years, it saved his life. when he was off work with depression and stress a friend got him a laith, he ws the most crabit, bad tempered, impatient old git you could imagine at the time(i understand now why) he learnet patience and found a hobby. i will get some pics of his work for you lads. he is always scrambling through the log pile at the yard with a big spray can marking all the bits he wants for the laith
  18. i dont like cocky men and i dont like cocky women. i have only worked with one woman, she was over confident and useless, she claimed to know everything but didnt want to do anything. she spat a lot and swore and didnt mind taking a pee behind a bush for everyone to see. she was out to prove a point, what it was i dont know, maybe she had 5 brothers i dont know. but i have worked with dozens of guys and my description would be the same of them. its down to the individual imo. i have met jen(klaymeb) and hanah from here. they were down to earth and a good laugh, and i respect them for having the guts to enter a mans world so to speak. i can never find decent male workers so bring it on.
  19. i answered no, i dont advertise except with signwriting and website, i am not even in the phonebook. all my work is recomendation so if anyone wants anything silly or a big no no, they know not to call me
