  1. It's a massive loss. You're probably right about Colin Edwards and I think Valentino was a good friend of his too.
  2. A true character. Tears here. God knows how Colin Edwards must be feeling.

    RIP Marco

Sad news. Marco Simoncelli has passed away.
  4. As the saw blade comes to the end of the log the other end will have started to decay:001_smile:
  5. Don't know who follows bike sport but been into bikes for a long time and love them but sad news that Marco Simoncelli is critically injured in a first lap incident. Such sad news.
  6. Looks similar to the infestations of giant willow aphid ( Tuberolachnus salignus ) that cover your hands in red juice when they're squished. But it's a lime.
  7. It's oak. You can see the medullary rays and little pips.
  8. Not right. I have an 026 that looks like that occasionally. One of the rubbers pops out and the whole thing's out of line.
  9. Looks more like a piece of oak to me.
  10. Nothing wrong with tempting a few over the border. Might encourage the neighbouring shoot to improve the coverts:thumbup1:
  11. I think the category that came up was 'tree surgeon' or was that on another site? Many years no claims too! Got back to NFU and asked them if they could match a quote of £350 on an L200 (they wanted £590 to renew) and after a couple of calls back they offered me £385. So local office and good service etc means they won the day.
  12. Had two pairs. Comfy from the off and lasted about 18 months each pair.
  13. Certainly been no disturbance around this tree as far as I've known it...10 yrs+. The ducting you see there is from the adjacent railway station which is why the footpath's closed. The soil here is thin over glacial gravel which is why it dries very quickly.
  14. Noticed this ash tree earlier this year looking a little thin on top. Summer came and went along with the tree. A. mellea? The ground in the Midlands seems so dry and trees obviously stressed that I wonder if next year will see many more deaths? So few fungi popping their heads up around here compared to previous years.
  15. Just tried and they won't quote me!
  16. Well I can't see any problem here. Haven't we all used trucks to tension pull line? I have, still do and will carry on doing so where practicable. Sometimes a winch isn't fast enough. As for clothing I'd love to be able to cut in jeans again just like the old days but have been saved once from a nasty accident. Anyway it's the USA...different work culture so don't knock it.
  17. What about having a fire....proper job:thumbup1:
  18. Seen this before but don't know what it is. On the underside of a dead oak branch and approx 30mm diameter. Is it a young maze gill?
  19. Thanks for replies. Not looking forward to this:confused1:
