  4. Saw this adverised, Is it worth asking the price, or should I run a mile?
  5. Is dry Sitka Spruce suitable for firewood? TIA.
  6. If the existing floor isnt too bad, I would buy an 8x4 sheet of chequer plate aluminium and put it straight down on it. It doesnt have to be very heavy guage because the existing floor will continue to support it.
  7. I think the Isuzu rodeo and ford ranger are still rated at 3000 kg.
  8. Your HiLux is probably 1.2 CUBIC metres
  9. Oh! Thanks for clearing that up!
  10. Are you saying you get more logs per ton from your new processor? How many cubic metres does your trailer hold? 10 ish? If so it seems small for 26 tons of timber
  11. He has to load it, deliver it and unload it, never mind the work and time involved in converting into a saleable product. I think £50 is very cheap.
  12. It doesnt get in the way in the wind and rain! Nothing worse that a wet seat
  13. Arms will be no problem from a tractor breaker. Think they will be the same as 200, 300, 600 series etc. The door could be trickier. Those big doors were a weak point in those 500 series.
  14. You could also have bought an oak table for sustantially more money. Whether its tables, firewood or indeed anything, choice is good
  15. Heres a few tips from another forum... 1. Start a new thread or reply to a thread to get to the reply box. 2. Click the paper clip icon that is on the top row of the buttons to edit you post. (see pic below) 3. This opens a new window from where you can BROWSE for the photos you want to upload and double click to select that photo. 4. Once you have chosen the (maximum of 5) photos click upload. It may take a little while depending on the number of photos or size.
  16. For a start read all the threads on here. Lots of great advice.
  17. This thread makes me think the bigger the processor the better! Paying extra for a larger processor may well be worth it in the long term. Less chainsawing, splitting and hand balling.
  18. How did you know? Nah, most are just on it for light entertainment Thanks!
  19. If anyone wants to talk farm related stuff, (or indeed anything!) like asking advice on tractors etc please feel free to join us at Forum4Farming - Powered by vBulletin We are only running for a couple of months. Thanks to Steve for allowing the plug
  20. Might well work, reason I ask is if you could stick a loader on your tractor you could stack a good quantity of logs on the deck and process away. I'm presuming a processor will stand on its with just the tractor pto attached meaning fast attachment and detachment. The more machinery you have in the yard the more there is to go wrong.
  21. Front end loader on tractor, crane on tractor, teleporter, digger, skidsteer, forklift.... etc etc Lots of options, I would go for something with quick attach so you can interchange quickly between bucket and forks etc. A good sized 4wd tractor with loader might be a good idea, or else put a loader on your own. Have you got a log deck?
  22. Some info here. 1300kg appears to be the max for a 3.5t tipper
  23. I presume legal payload will be about a tonne?
